RIVET Coffee Bar and Roastery — Restaurant in Westfield

Wanted to like this place as I hate leaving negative reviews of local places. Mediocre coffee and slow service at a premium price. I read the great reviews and arrived on a Saturday around 10AM with high expectations intent on trying the coffee. First, I was disappointed they don't have multiple sizes, but I asked the barista for a coffee recommendation and she suggested the honey latte (it was named something different). I was looking for something with some coffee flavor and said I wanted something stronger. She assured me that this drink is made with 2 shots of espresso and should be to my liking. After 15 minutes of waiting (for only 2 cups of coffee to go) I get back in line to check on the status of my order. While waiting in line, the barista called out another order. Finally I made it back to the window about 20 minutes after ordering the coffee and asked about my order. The barista figured out that they had put the wrong name on my order and the order they had called out a few minutes ago was mine. After the 20 minute wait I was eager to try the coffee and I was instantly disappointed. It was one of the weakest coffee drinks I've ever had. After the challenge of getting the coffee in the first place I wasn't going to wait another 20 minutes for it to be made right. I get if the place is busy but if someone is going to be waiting much more than 5 minutes for a coffee you need to set that expectation when the order is placed. Service was polite and friendly but this was a missed opportunity. I would rather spend money local, but this is a place I'd avoid. What an unexpected disappointment this place was. We arrived mid morning on Saturday and noticed that the line was decently long, which lead to me deciding to place a mobile order and wait on the deck. There was an estimated time for the order to be complete at 10:35, I had placed the order at around 10:00 am. At 10:40 I approached the pickup window to check on the status of my order. The associate at the window mentioned that they needed to make one more drink of my two drink order. Another 10 minutes pass and the associate called my name that the order was complete. As I neared the pickup window this time I watched the associate knock over my drink, spilling a decent portion of it on the counter. As I walked up she greeted me with my name and then proceeded to try and hand me the spilled the drink where coffee was dripping down the cup and her hands. My unamused face said I watch you spill the drink can you at least clean it up. The proper response here would have been to make me a new drink, but alas that wasn’t going to happen. The associate went to the side to “clean” the drink up in a haphazardly attempt. She then handed me a sopping wet cup. Once I sat down I noticed that a large portion of the coffee had pooled on top of the lid. I once again went up to the window and requested napkins, since none were available to grab myself. Once I finally took a sip of my drink I noticed they didn’t put the correct syrup in the drink, at this point I was over this debacle of an operation and left. We love love love rivet coffee! My husband and I have been going there for the last year ever since we’ve moved to Westfield. We have a seven month old and take him with us, and right when we step in, everyone recognizes us, and just loves on him. It’s the sweetest! Every time we go they have tons of kids there and the manager is seen walking around to each table playing with them. It’s so so nice! Their coffee and food is amazing! I take my baby boy every Friday and spend an hour with him and I’ll forever cherish these memories! We love supporting local businesses, and Rivet is always on the top of our list when we have visitors! They are so incredibly welcoming, coffee is so smooth, and food is super flavorful (not your regular type of brunch food) we always look forward to their seasonal options, but my husband loves their brookie chai! There’s some reviews on here about the unfriendly staff and they are super busy on weekends so don’t go in expecting top notch service and for them to recognize you each time! On Saturdays, the line is out of the door and we don’t mind waiting because it’s a local coffee shop that has great food and drinks,...
