We had a great time at the library! We live about 45 minutes away and met some friends on a cold winter day. The children’s area is wide with lots of spaces for imaginary play, and padded climbing blocks. Computers are provided for older children to play learning games etc. There are books in ground level bins for kids to look through - so thoughtful. There is a very large, accessible unisex bathroom with self-disinfecting changing table.
We didn’t spend much time in other areas, but things I noticed: large windows for natural lighting tons of areas for study and reading terrace style seating area (with seat pads), complete with outlets quiet study rooms friends of the library book sale cafe with coffee and drinks for purchase
Before coming, I looked at some google reviews. The negative reviews about this library are surprising to me; our experience was very positive. It’s disappointing that others would leave such poor reviews about a free, public, and...
Read moreThis library is small, quiet and not relatively busy most of the time. The staff are nice and friendly. A few things you should know before going there: it is right across the street from Westfield High School, so usually, on the weekdays (and usually right after 3PM), there will be steady traffic of teenagers and young adults going in and out; some of these people can be rude, inconsiderate of others, and unwieldy, so if you're an adult over 20 years old, I'd suggest going to a different library in the afternoon if you really want a quiet space to concentrate. Also, the walls in the private study rooms are very thin compared to the soundproof and silent library in Noblesville -- if someone is talking even at a reasonable volume in an adjoining room, you can hear them almost perfectly clearly. Lastly, the internet is slow, could use an upgrade. Other than that, for such a small city, this...
Read moreThe New library looks great! I had to send a fax. I called in, spoke with Joanna, she told me they have a fax machine. After I get there she tells me it's.$0 25/page. (Could have told me in the phone) Ok, no big deal. Then she tells me it won't send a confirmation email. Again, no big deal. I tell it to just print the confirmation. I figure out the machine, pay, wait. Um, no confirmation? "Yeah, I told you it wouldn't. Let's just cross our fingers. I totally trust technology." I cannot express how dripping with sarcasm and sanctimony her tone was. No, Joanna, you didn't. Let's see if I can replicate her tone: Man, that Joanna and Westfield public library was...
