The food here was amazing, and the prices were so reasonable, I didn't believe the prices that had been posted on the online version of the menu, till I got to the restaurant to see for myself. Our server was super friendly and very helpful when we were trying to decide what to order, providing her opinion on different items. A few members of my family met here for lunch in the afternoon and there was plenty of room for our party of 6 to sit comfortably. I'd eaten a few hours before, so I didn't want anything heavy. I personally got egg salad on wheat toast (I rarely, if ever order egg salad from a restaurant, but server said it way very good) and enjoyed every last bite of it. It was perfect, not runny at all. Others in my party got the roasted turkey over stuffing & gravy, BLT, Roast Beef w/ gravy and the Hot Roast Beef sandwich with gravy and every single one of us, cleaned out plates. The only thing that I didn't eat was my bread/butter pickle slices that came w/ sandwich (I like kosher pickles, not B&B), but my mom and aunt ended up splitting and eating them. I got a piece of the PB pie to take home, and it was so delicious, I wish I had more for later this week.
I almost couldn't believe it, when we got our bill (for 6 people) and saw how affordable it was.
The little shop/market to the side of the restaurant is just adorable. They have freshly baked pies, cookies and cakes (and a day old discounted section as well), fudge, fresh seasonal fruits, Apple Cider, homemade salsas and jams and everything in between. Oh and they also sell a variety of plants for both outside and inside. With it being the end of the season, plants were all BOGO. I ended up buying 2 Plants, Apple Butter, Garden Salsa, Chocolate PB Fudge, Apple Cider and a container of strawberries. I noticed they have plenty of fresh picked PEACHES right now too.
If you're looking for a place to get some amazing home cooked type of food at a extremely reasonable price, then Baugher's is the place. I recommend anyone in the area to stop by and get a bite. You won't be...
Read moreI have eaten at Baughers twice and additinally gotten carry out once, and purchased on separate occasions many many pies. (My grandmother ever tells me that the original owner used to take her dry cleaning to her anyway....I digress.) Everytime the food has been quite good. Their breakfast is amazing, real cured bacon (not the slimy mass produced stuff), excellent pancakes, superbly fried crispy scrapple. Despite my dining companions (The Permenters) suggestion of the bunless burger stack or the fried chicken bowl, i decided on a litmus test item for me, half fried chicken, salad w blue cheese, French fries. I also ordered the cream of crab soup. The crab soup, (I was concerned about crab in Carroll County since I grew up right on the water in Essex/Middle River) but, the bisque (it was roux based) was very well flavored with plenty of crab, well done. Rolls were great and homemade. My chicken was made to order and was wonderful. The breasts were very moist and thoroughly cooked with no dry section whatsoever. The batter was not overly salty and was crisp all around. It was really some of the best chicken I have ever had (and you are reading a review from someone that has sampled it from Dookie Chase, Willie Mae's Scotch House, and Jacqueimos in New Orleans) The salad was basic, but solid and very fresh. Blue cheese was also good (I hate thin, buttermilky blue cheese dressing). The fries, I actually ate before the chicken cooled down. They are also made to order from whole unpeeled potatoes and are wonderful. Boardwalk fries are no better than these. Their pies area favorite of mine, and I did like it today. I love all berries but like BlackBerry the best, it was not available, but they had blueberry. I say I liked it but I think the berries were undercooked and some people might find them raw or too acidic. I say this but, also say that every other morsel of pie has...
Read moreI very much wanted to love this place as much as the farm. It very much ruined an otherwise great day. My husband and I live over an hour away but decided after seeing the farm on WJZ news we would come and spend that Sunday on a family outing with our 3week old picking peaches and getting photos. The Farm and orchard visot was spectacular. On the way home the plan was to stop for dinner at the restaurant and refuel. Upon arrival we were promptly greeted and sat by the hostess in the center of the front dining room at the first round table. After 10 minutes no one had come to take our drink or food orders, which wasn't a huge deal because it was our fist time there we had plenty of opportunity to scrutinize the menu. While seating a couple whom arrived close to that 10 minutes after us, the hostess noticed we had not been helped and took it upon herself to ask the waitress why she hadn't taken our orders yet? She gave no response but did come and take the drink orders which were not fulfilled for another 15 minutes. She came back full of apologies and took our food order for the Sunday turkey dinner special and a patty melt. After 30 minutes still mo food, my husband asked the waitress how much longer it will be at which point she apologized again and stated that she had forgotten to put in our orders. Meanwhile the families who were seated after us were all eating and or finishing up their meals and paying their bills. After another 10 minutes and finishing our drinks we paid for those and left......we had a wonderful mesl at Maggie's which is where we usually go whenever in town and will continue to go from...
