Anschutz Cafe — Restaurant in Wheeler Township

I have loved this place for many years. Went there this past weekend and ordered my usual BIG cheesy bacon cheeseburger. Given its namesake, any customer would expect it to be....pause for effect....BIG. And it once was. What they brought me Saturday, however, was more the size of a Wendy's Junior Bacon Cheeseburger. The only thing big about the burger was the steakhouse price tag. Now, I know we are under some really awful economic conditions currently and they are just trying to stay afloat. I get that. It's still a really bitter experience when you get the check and it's $45 for a small appetizer and two whimpy cheeseburgers.

Staff is still great there and I always try to support local establishments. I just hope things go back to the way they once were. Otherwise, sadly, I'm going to have to cross this place off my list of...

This is a wonderful gem! The care and passion of everyone working there makes this THE place to be! This is also one of the rare dining establishments that make me feel comfortable having my children with me! Definitely family friendly!! This is my first time coming to this Restaraunt. My husband had the cod (perfectly breaded and cooked) and I had the Citrus Chicken Au Jus and the chicken was cooked Beautifully! I did hit a snag with my dinner (one chicken was a little undercooked along the griddle), but the waitress Was absolutely wonderful and understanding and the Chef made a brand new dish, then insured that the new dish was better. We stopped in for lunch today and had the best time. Erica, our waitress, was very cheerful and very attentive to our needs! My husband hadn't been here in 20 years and was pleasantly surprised by how clean the restaurant was. He ordered the liver, bacon and onions which was very tender and flavorful. I had the Rene sandwich ( a Turkey Reuben) which came with homemade chips. It was so yummy. Bob's Dad ordered the "small" Nachos and received a heaping plateful. He said they were very good and took more than half of them in a to-go box for later. Great food, fair prices, a wonderful server and a clean restaurant... what more could we ask for? Definitely earned 5...
