Jack Pandl's Whitefish Bay Inn — Restaurant in Whitefish Bay

We had a group of 7 at 5:30 on a very warm evening to enjoy the Friday fish specials out on the patio. There was a pleasant breeze and good company which made it bearable in the heat. There may have been some understaffing since frequently you could see not a soul but one person near the door. The neighboring table had a small white dog which the staff thoughtfully brought a bowl of water with bones painted on it (not service bowls). Drink orders were taken, and then meal orders. When food orders came out one order was missing??? Again and again a request was made on the status of the missing meal with no clear response. With most people having completed their meal the entree comes out. I along with everyone else enjoyed their meals. I do have to say that I thought on the potato crusted cod the potato crust was too thick on a few pieces. Sort of like popcorn shrimp where you break it open and 80% is breading. Luckily the potato crust keeps a crunchy texture, but overwhelmed the fish flavor. (I know cod is very, very mild in flavor). I'd go with broiled next time I guess. The homemade tartar sauce was very good also, just a dab will do ya. No compensation for the missing meal flub, desserts, ect. It seems a very pet friendly place, as when we were winding down our meal a couple with a very large Great Dane was sat a couple tables away. It was more in awe then fear seeing it, but the extensive drool coming from this friendly beast and I hoping for a quick shake from him might not have been taken so well by those closer by. We were pretty excited to try this place. And it was ok, but nowhere near what we were expecting or what this price point would warrant. We arrived a bit early and figured we would grab a drink at the bar, which is a mistake here, at least when they dont have the patio open. They make the most of their space, which means its crowded. We were able to get a couple glasses of wine but not a comfortable space to drink them in, even getting them took awhile.

We were shown to our table and wated a couple minutes and were served water. A few minutes later our server arrived with a basket of homemade garlic bread chips. We ordered and the server brought salads and bread. They were fine. When our dinner arrived we were not impressed. My wiener schnitzel was fine, a lot of cabbage and not enough spaetzle for my tastes. And oddly it came with a fried egg, not the lemon wedge I'm used to, I'm assuming that's what "ala holstein" means, but that could have been set out in the menu more clearly. My dates lamb was overdone, especially for her taste.

Most of the employees we dealt with were pleasant and accommodating. Unfortunately our server was not. They mumbled mostly and only stopped by once after we got our food and mumbled something unintelligible. They were pretty unimpressive.

All in all it was an ok dining experience. But definitely not worth the price in my opinion. Very crowded and cramped, poor service (from our experience)...

We had dinner at Pandls and our party was extremely disappointed by the service. The waitress made it clear she had a long day and everything was a real trial - from getting extra water, to walking around the table to deliver our food, to letting us order desert. Our dinner entrees sat on the serving tray for over 5 minutes before she delivered them to us - after first having to clear our salad dishes since the people busing the table hadn't done that. When we look around the restaurant the busing personnel were chit chatting among themselves, the hostess came over, saw the food sitting there and walked away - doing nothing. When we asked for additional water the waitress said she was too busy for that and would let the bus people know (we had to ask twice). She asked if we were ready for the bill and when we asked for dessert - she seemed put out by the request. Several of us asked for the Strawberry shortcake and she tried to discourage us from ordering our own dessert telling us it was really big and did we want to share it. I did notify the restaurant wanting them to know of the problem and looking for them to respond with action taken. I got a response for more information and was told someone would look into it and never heard from them again.
