Rick's Eastside Pub — Restaurant in Whitewater

Rick's has become the biggest joke ever since their son took over. We went there tonight and were pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't busy and they had open tables our entire dinner. Plus they were staffed to the gills! We were greeted by a friendly waitress, ordered our drinks, soup, salad, and fish. We got our drinks right away and our soup followed about 15 or 20 minutes later. Our salad took AN HOUR. Our waitress apologized and said she asked the cooks what was taking so long and they yelled at her (ridiculous). We then got our fish just over the hour and a half mark!!!!! Our walleye was fine, but our bluegill were disgusting. They were cold, soaked in grease, and this strange opaque gray color. My wife and I decided to dine out, looking for some good fish fry on a Friday. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed, and understaffed. We've been waiting for 40 minutes, nursing a Coke and a Guinness, and we're going to have to wait another 10 minutes. Clearly the management does not staff appropriate to the predictable size of the crowd.

As for the food, I ordered 3-piece fried halibut with the usual sides, and my wife ordered 2-piece cod. The breading on the halibut was deplorable and most likely not freshly made, the pasta salad swam in some kind of watery mayonnaise liquid, but the small cup of coleslaw was fine. My wife's cod and fried potato pancake was to her liking.

Our server, Chelsea, was very polite and accommodating.

We stopped here while on our way home and taking a slight detour through Whitewater. One of the first things we noticed is that at 1:30 in the afternoon they still had a full parking lot. This certainly was a good sign as the place still was fairly busy for a late lunch.

I had ordered a burger that was very good and my wife had the Friday fish fry. She ate it all and said it was very good, it certainly smelled very good.

The waitress was very good. She interacted with our son, made suggestions to what he might like to drink and eat. He was starting to tell her a story and she kindly stayed and listened to his story and was very friendly.

Overall this was a great stop even if we just kind of came across this. Glad...
