The Whittemore Inn is a local bar that has several rooms above on a second floor. The crowd at the bar can be from fun to rough. This is a very rural area, but has a local racetrack that draws a good crowd into the bar on Saturday nights. the hotel above has a reputation. some may suggest it is a place to simply pass out and avoid a DUI conviction. Others suggest thatthere is typically something a bit sleeziers going on upstairs. I have not actually stayed in the rooms, but we have inquired from an entertainment standpoint while having drinks in the bar downstairs. There are several keys that hang on hooks behind the bar. The best room is $24. Other rooms can be had for 416 - $18. In 2010 I went into the bar where a 20'ish girl was sitting at the bar, talking to everyone around, obviously intoxicated. At one point she was discussion the number of tatoos she had, and reached around pulling up her T-shirt to display those on her back, exposing 90% of her front. She then said that she was living upstairs for the time being after returning to the area after being an exotic dancer in detroit. She was mentioning to guys at the bar that she was short on cash.... I walked away. This is not a joke, I am serious. If you ask the proprieters they will say that they are legitimate hotel rooms. Ask the patrons and various tales are told of wandering up the stairs to watch a "show". I'll leave that to your imagination. I would never consider this a legitimate hotel or motel offer. Consider it one of the last of the "upstairs from the bar" cat houses. regarding the bar - drinks are inexpensive, but i would suggest sticking to bottled beer. avoid all "well" liquor. We suspect that at least some of the alcohol is either very cheap grade or possibly mixed up from moonshine, since we had only three mixed drinks over a couple hours a year ago in this bar and woke with hangovers of an extreme unrivaled since college fraternity parties. This past weekend we saw a 75 year old man, roaringly drunk, sit / collapse into a chair, then fall over backwards, crashing to the floor. Several patrons laughingly said he had been dringing "moonshine" all afternoon and evening. That's likely a specialty reserved for local or whatever, but may be used to make the real liquor last longer in the wells. Stick to...

The food is 'okay', pricy for what you get. Lots of drama everytime I've been here. The everyday regulars are always super drunk. I don't see...
