This store at 31st and south Seneca has only been open since January 2019, and I am already a regular customer. Friends had mentioned it before the first time I went in. They talked about how good it was. They gave me a menu, and when I saw that they sold catfish, shrimp, and gator, I was a little hesitant about what they would have for me. (I do not eat fish or seafood and never tried gator.) But, the sides included fried okra, which my elderly mother loves. I stopped by to get her an order. I watched them batter and fry it up, nice and fresh, took all of two-three minutes, and my mother loved it. I went back a couple weeks later, same thing. Okra and mom loved it. Since I realized that they sold chicken strips, too, I decided last week to get us both a two piece chicken dinner, ($4 with one side), and I watched them fix that, nice and fresh. I had the mac and cheese, mom had her okra. They asked if I wanted the cajun spice on the chicken and not knowing how spicy it was I said no, but they sent a little bit in a small plastic cup for us to try. I sprinkled some over my chicken once I got home, and it was great. A good kick to it. I like spicy foods, but not habanero hot. This spice was flavorful, but didn't make me run for a glass of milk. The chicken was fresh and battered and fried in front of me, as was the okra. I have family coming in from the south that loves catfish, gator, shrimp, and spicey foods, and I'm going to be placing an order for all once they get here. Other notes, the place is clean, the food is fresh, haven't had anything yet that was "greasy", and the people that work there are always very nice, and talk to you. You're not "just a customer", they are very friendly and genuinely interested. I appreciate that. So, 5⭐s from me. Good food, good prices, nice employees, clean business....
Read moreDecided to eat here for the first time. It was after 730 so I thought I would call first. The phone rang and rang and finally went to an answering machine telling me they would be closed July 4. That would be important information if it hadn’t been July 19th. I decided they must be busy and will just run over there. When I got there at the parking lot was empty and I thought the place was closed but the open sign was on so I pulled into the parking lot. When I asked the person behind the counter how come they didn’t answer the phone he replied, “We don’t answer the phone after 730. We used to but we got slammed with orders one time.” I’ve never run a restaurant, but I guess a lot of orders is bad for business?
Coming out of COVID-19 I would think every order counts. If that was the owner, I think he should seriously reconsider the position. If that was just an employee, I think the owner needs to reconsider his position. You miss 100% of the business you don’t take.
The food we ordered was good but the whole experience left a bad taste...
Read moreWe ordered Tim’s Trio which consisted of 6 tenders, 2 catfish fillets, 12 breaded shrimp, and a choice of 3 sides. Our sides were okra, hush puppies, and macaroni and cheese. In addition to this, we also ordered fried pickles and one frog leg. The chicken tenders were very delicious, as were the shrimp, and both had a nice kick of cajun seasoning. We did not care for the catfish much. The okra was good, but nothing special, but we did get a lot of it as a side. The hush puppies were very good, but were small and we only got 4. The macaroni and cheese was a tiny dish of about 4 bites worth, but it was good also. There were a ton of fried pickles, and while they were good, they weren’t anything I would get again. We could not bring ourselves to actually try the frog leg, so I can’t really comment on that, lol! Overall, out of everything we got, we would only get the chicken tenders, shrimp, and hush puppies again. Came with plenty of mustard type and ranch dipping sauces though, and was well priced for the amount of...
