To be fair, you would think that if a restaurant serves breakfast all day, they would know how to make breakfast food. I ordered the Bacon and Eggs Breakfast with scrambled eggs and biscuits & gravy. My fiance ordered Liver and Onions with French Fries, Corn and a side stack of Pancakes (we both ordered a side salad with Ranch). I noticed a coconut cream pie after eating and had to see...
Bacon - good taste & texture, but very thin 8/10 Eggs - badly overcooked and chopped up 2/10 Hash browns - cooked only on 1 side soft 3/10 (Hunt's Ketchup) Biscuits - tastes only of flour, nice texture though 6/10 Gravy - no salt or real fat/flavor added here (as if delicious sausage fat was rinsed off and they used skim milk or something) = paste 2/10 Side Salad - 4/10 hand sized plate with only lettuce, 1 cracker packet & dressing cup, nice crispy washed lettuce, but no toppings at all. Ranch was made with Miracle Whip; good, but not a fan. Coconut Cream Pie - 10/10! Maybe this is a sign you are in the wrong field - go pastry shop or something - you guys would out do Village Inn or Spears! Lovely Coconut Flavor, perfect amount of shredded coconut (doesn't make you chew forever) nice crust (pale with no color, but tastes great). I did not try the Liver, but fiance says 7/10 French Fries - 3/10 Cooked perfectly Crinkle Cut, but HORRIBLE OIL don't use vegetable oil to fry in guys, c'mon.... Corn - 3/10 frozen, little salt, boring Pancakes - 5/10 Great Batter and Cooked Perfectly, but again with the gross (tastes expired) vegetable oil.... :(
Atmosphere: Dark, very quiet, only people 65+ years old seated, dim lighting except for the bright sun trying to shine through the many many windows (you guys should take advantage of this!) Smells of pie and an old house built in the 1920s - not a bad smell, but could be better. Our waitress was obviously sick, but was very nice and speedy. Silverware - Knorks. Iced Tea is good. Did not try the bathrooms.
We will not be back. Let us know when you turn into a...
Read moreHow badly can you screw up breakfast?Start with 3 good sized but thin & flat pancakes, I actually had to salt them to be edible, even after the cold generic syrup served with them. The scrambled eggs were still gooey; redoing those still left them wet, but edible -barely- through the oil film that also covered them (both times but twice as bad the 2nd time). By contrast, the sausage links though quite tasty were overcooked and very dry. Oh, and they were out of grits and my second choice of side too. My husband's liver and onions still had traces of pink in it, The slices were adequately piled, but very thin. ...A little on the tough side but edible. The cinnamon roll was obviously homemade, but being a good cook myself I can tell you they were not allowed to rise enough before baking and the sugar on it was on top, not on the inside where it should be. Nobody uses too much cinnamon, but lacking sugar inside, they somehow managed to do just that. It was our first time and a huge disappointment. I wish the food were better, the ambiance is great. But I doubt...
Read moreWe came for the holidays out of state and found this restaurant. With the title country cafe i thought we'd have some nice delicious food. Boy was I mistaken. We ordered a hamburger, beef roast and breakfast with over easy eggs. 2 of the 3 plates had more than a napkin full of water. The food was disgusting. I didn't complain to the waitress because she didn't cook the food and I'm doubtful they could do better. My plate of beef roast remained uneaten.lt was so bad I didn't even take it for my dogs. When asked by the cashier if the food was good I was honest. How did water get on a plate with fried eggs and hash browns and the roast. Apparently the beef is soaking in water and it wasn't properly drained and instead of frying over easy eggs the cook poached them. I sincerely hope the mom and pop owners read this and return my $40.00 and do something about the kitchen staffs cooking. Don't waste your time or money at...
