Jimmy's Egg — Restaurant in Wichita

My spouse and I experienced the worst dining experience of our lives here. First time EVER walking out of a restaurant unserved.

Tldr, we walked out over an hour later with no food, were ignored by our server the entire time, she was arguing with other customers and insulted us directly to our faces.

After 5 mins the server took and filled our drink order, no problem, and said she would be right back to take our food order but then didn't acknowledge our presence again for 30 mins. During this time she argued with an adjacent booth after she lost their reward number/coupon for free pancakes, blamed the computer, and then in the most condescending tone said "If yOu wOuld jUst listeN....." I was blown away at how she was treating this elderly couple who were nothing but cordial when it was clearly her fault.

It was a full 35 minutes before she took our food order at which time she argued with us about the options we selected for a combo that were clearly stated in the menu.

The entire time she never refilled our coffee, we had to get the attention of the manager? from across the restaurant for that and suggested that she was overwhelmed but he never stepped in to help.

One of the empty booths we passed on the way in got filled 15 minutes after we sat down and after an hour of us waiting they we're all already finishing their meals and we hadn't received any food.

I could see the food prep area from where I was sitting and saw the berry pancakes my SO had ordered, by the time we walked out they had been under the heat lamp for 25 mins! She was bussing tables near us and did actually apologize for the wait, but then rolled that directly into telling us how rude the Labor Day crowd had been all day. The whole time I'm sitting there thinking, we're part of the Labor Day crowd, how is she going to call us rude to our faces......

We finally had enough and decided to leave, threw down cash to cover our drinks and as we're walking out she's off arguing with another booth about something. We understood that it was Labor Day and expected a bit of a wait but this was preposterous. It's too bad because this place is so close and convenient to our house and I loved the retro diner decor. But I can't go back and eat at this place and get this kind of service. I hope management recognizes that they need to do some retraining. Maybe we'll come back in 6 months...

Our waitress, Stephanie, was awesome! This was our 1st visit and she was very patient and helpful with our questions and orders. I had the steak omelet with hash browns and biscuit and gravy. Huge portions! They use real eggs!! My brother had the 'almost healthy' custom made omelet w pancakes. He was very impressed. Our service was excellent. We will definitely return. Only disappointment...... they are only open until 2:00 p.m. Note: I downloaded their app at my table to get points...
