This was our first time here. I’ll start off with the good. The food was superb. The kids grilled pork was a highlight. I ordered the Angry Pho, which I thought came with all the meat, plus and egg. I believe there was only meatballs and steak. There were a large amount of boodles compared to broth, still delicious. My husband ordered a bahn mi which he said was great.
The bad. We waited for over 20 minutes for our waitress to come take our order (we went at 4:30 and there was only about 3-4 other tables) I finally had to stop her and ask to take our order, she initially told me to hold on for a “while”, which I thought was rude. There may have been a bit of a language barrier but she finally decided to stay and take our order. Someone else brought our food out, she was friendlier than our waitress. After our food was brought out, we were never checked on again. Our waters were empty and I couldn’t find anyone to ask if my pho was missing the items listed above. Finally we were done eating, we continued to wait for someone to come to our table. I had to get up and stand by the check out while the two waitresses had their backs turned to me on a phone. Another employee finally walked in and said something to them and they turned around. I asked for a to go container for my pho. She brought one to the table and walked away. So we waited a while to get a check, which apparently we were unaware you pay up front. My family went to the car while I got in line. When they saw my husband and children walk out the door our waitress, who was ringing up someone else, started talking to her coworker frantically, again in a different language, pointing at my family and staring and peeking their heads out. I’m assuming they thought we were going to dine and ditch. Finally I spoke up and said “is something wrong?” And they both looked ar me suprised. The woman who wasn’t our waitress said “oh she thought….” Then walked around a corner and didn’t finish her sentence. My husband got our kids in the car and came back in to trade me places.
This was our first experience trying pho, and quite frankly even with the food being good, we will not be back due to the inattentive and...
Read moreI went in for an early lunch on a Friday. Expected the place to be crowded because there were several cars in the parking lot, but instead, of being directed to a table, the host told me that I could sit anywhere I wanted, so I picked a corner booth—my favorite.
Ordered the Bun thit, #65, with pork and egg roll. Expected to have some time to sit, but the food came out too quickly. Less than ten minutes.
I didn't have the biggest appetite—it was an early lunch after all—so was looking forward to a light meal. Bun cha / thit is usually perfect. To my surprise, however, the bowl was huge. Complicating matters further, there was so much protein in the bowl. Literally gobs and gobs of delicious, grilled, sliced pork. It's my favorite Vietnamese dish and I've never been served one with so much meat. Obviously I couldn't waste it, so I ate every bite and was so full afterwards. Ugh.
Overall, I didn't expect much going into Pho KC, but instead walked away with a full tummy. Guess I should go in with a better prepared...
Read moreI love the idea of this place! There are not many plant-based options in town, and their vegan menu is vast. BUT we were completely ignored when we came in. It would've been fine if three groups of white people weren't seated and greeted with smiles. The only other Black person who walked in was treated the same as us. 2/5 vegan eggrolls were the same/consistent/correct. When I went to the desk to pay, I was ignored, and then a server finally walked out to serve a table (I understand that might've been something he was already doing). When he came back, I expected I'd be helped since i was waiting, but a white couple walked in, and he instead grabbed menus to seat them. Checking me out (when he finally did it) took all of 1 min max. Haven't had a problem here until now. This was my fourth visit and...
