My girlfriend and I decided to check out Wickenburg as we have never been there other than just driving through on our way to another destination. Based on recommendations from friends for a steak house, we decided to go to Charley's. We arrived at Charley's at about 7pm, we were greeted by a hostess who immediately asked if we had a reservation. This caught us off guard, we immediately had the impression that we may not get seated. The hostess asked a lady where we could be seated and emphasized we didn't have a reservation. Once we were seated the service was very prompt we were given bread with butter and our drinks with in a few minutes. From there our waitress was attentive but she had to go get answers for most of the questions that we had about the menu as it had no descriptions on the menu other than "Ribeye" for instance. No description of portion size for any cut of meat just the name of the cut of meat. Later the waitress admitted that she was new, and even with that fact she did very well for it being her first night. Overall the experience was okay. Nothing negative to speak of. Some personal observations though, if reservations are the preferred method of being able to eat here then it should be stated, if it is not then don't make it such an awkward situation that someone doesn't have a reservation. The overall atmosphere to me does not match the price. The furniture is only tables and chairs no booths for the price I would have liked to see a more intimate setting, lower lights and at least some booths to seperate the tables. Price wise - we had 2 meals a Ribeye and (6) shrimp, and a New York strip with (4) Jumbo Shrimp, and 1 tea. Each meal came with soup or salad (the salad was very generic and had a tremendous amount of dressing on it), choice of beans or corn (these were also very small portions), and a choice of baked potato or fries. We both got a baked potato and it was adequate in size. The meal includes a free dessert each which was a small cup of ice cream with hot fudge or caramel topping. The servings of ice cream was the perfect...
Read moreI was very excited to try this steak house. I am new to the area. Charley's was closed until the new season started. The outside of the building is so cute and inviting. The inside is old and very outdated, looking more like a banquet hall than a fine dining restaurant. They need a full remodel. Make a sit at bar and updated dining room. Get rid of the outdated wood paneling, and old bottles everywhere. The food was just ok, not at all worth the suggested price. I had the special for the evening. The portions were small compared to other restaurants with the same item. The flavor was ok, nothing exceptional. The scalloped potatoes were really greasy, you could find at any Dennys or chain. The dinner came with a dessert, which consisted of a very small scoop of ice cream with chocolate sauce. The ice cream was icy like it had thawed and was re frozen. There was a Porsche in the parking lot, maybe spend mo ey on updating this old outdated place. Make the I side as inviting as the outside. Very disappointed in this place. I had high hopes for a great place to sit for a couple hours having drinks and great food. ...
Read moreWent here twice, second time we walked out have tasting the stale bread served to us! First time streaks were dry and chewy. Tasteless!! The shrimp was fried and not in a good way, dripped with grease and tasted of grease!! Staff stressed and looking unhappy! Manager running around and scowling and hissing at staff! Waitress went to take our order and before we could say anything, she walked away and ran some food keeps us waiting... the rest of the food not what you would expect from a steakhouse, tasteless or not cooked well and the bill was high for what we ordered. Interior outdated and lacking for a steakhouse. Just because itâs the only one in town doesnât mean it should...
