The Hive Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Wildomar

We have lived in this area for a little over 5 years now and have seen this restaurant almost everyday, as we drive back and forth from our home. Today we stopped in after we figured out it wasn’t just a bar and some bar food and boy am I so glad we did. Not only do they have amazing food, but great cocktails too. My husband and I were celebrating our first date night and decided let look into going down the street close from home and try some place new and “The Hive” popped in my mind. We didn’t want to be out too late so we did do an early dinner, which was actually perfect timing for us to sit down before the rush and just enjoy the meal and my hubby without a lot of fuss. When we first walked in we were greeted by our hostess who very warm and welcoming and she immediately brought us to our table and allowed us to choose where we wanted to seat, which I picked the corner table. Our waitress Megan greeted us almost immediately and allowed us to order our drinks, which I had this amazing blueberry cocktail. Fabulous!!!! Great choice and my husband had the Mule, he loved it by the way too. Megan was absolutely amazing and promised us that this would be our favorite spot and she wasn’t kidding. It was absolutely a killer place to eat without it being expensive. Megan was so amazing the whole time and I literally would hire her on the spot to work for us if I could have as she made the meal so much more enjoyable and was so attentive to all our needs. I did see other employees, but most of them huddle in the back corner by the kitchen talking and laughing making clients have to sneak around them to use the restroom, which I thought was a little annoying for the clients. The bartender, the hostess and the Megan our waitress was of course staying busy doing their jobs or finding something to do instead of stand around and chat. I kinda slacked their behavior off because I saw online the great pictures of the Hives food and didn’t want that to be my only judgment of them and Megan was so on the ball I wanted to be completely fair. Anyways, Megan did come back and start taking our orders once we received our drinks and decided on ordering the fried pickles, where we’re completely amazing. The batter was so light and crisp and not at all greasy. I ate two and then saved them for my kids to share, since pickles are most of my kids favorite treat, which we do have 8. I ordered pesto chicken sand-which and fries and my husband got the BLT with onion rings. I obviously tried it all and everything was exquisite. The ranch was also amazing. I am a huge ranch fan, but always have a hard time finding a great tasting ranch at most of these restaurants now a days, but this was great. At the end of the evening I asked her for a container obviously to take home. Wasn’t going to waste that. To top of our evening we split the boysenberry funnel cake, which included boysenberries, raspberries, whipped cream, boysenberry sauce and vanilla ice cream. It was so good and I would definitely recommend that dessert to anyone. Next time I am going to try to get the churro. I want to thank all of the employees of “The Hive” for providing us such a great meal and company on our date anniversary. My 8 kids asked us to say thank you, as we shared our meal with them when we got home. Their favorite part besides the funnel cake was definitely the fried pickles. 2022.06-19/SUN_noon: Food Server/Nessa Our experience was excellent from the time we walked in to the time we left. The staff was incredible to watch and I love their uniforms. What I loved about this place was the ambiance. It really was a great feel walking in and the outstanding hospitality. Nessa was absolutely fabulous! She had really great suggestions! She was dead on! I felt like I was back home at one of my favorite local joints. This would be my favorite place for sports because for every angle of the restaurant, there was a TV you can watch! We can't wait to be back already. It'll definitely be on the agenda each time we visit Grandma! We actually took Grandma! She even ordered a Painkiller cocktail (suggested by our beautiful, no rockin' server) which really was a doozy!

We started with the the Hive House Disco Frittes. That's a mound of fries, fried cheese curds, bacon crumbles, Parmesan cheese with Sriacha Aioli. Holy moly, it was delicious. The cheese curds just did it for me! Flavor explosion! Just great comfort food. We ordered the Chicken Sandwich, the Fish and Chips, and the Cheezilla Burger. Each entree was carefully assembled and presented. The portions are great! Everything was piled high. You will have leftovers if you order an appetizer! You've got to be hungry!

The entrees are unexplainable! You would have to see my photos. All entrees were just gorgeous. They were delicious. The Fish & Chips were fantastic. I swear they brought out the entire fish! So succulent and juicy with not much breading. It wasn't greasy and dense! Looks can be deceiving! It was light on the tummy. What will knock your socks off is the malt vinegar based dipping sauce and I LOVE that they topped the chips with malt vinegar - that's my favorite touch that was added to the whole entree. But the white malt vinegar house dipping sauce will pack that awesome punch and it compliments the fish! Wowsers!!

The Cheezilla Burger was another ultimate favorite! The burger was extremely juicy. What will get you is the presentation. It is served with fried cheese! You heard me right! It had a blanket of fried cheese on it!! It was absolutely delicious. Like I said, it's super juicy!!

If you're looking for a place to wind down after work or take the family out for dinner for some good grub, and be surrounded by awesome people, this is the place to be! Do yourself a favor and order a Painkiller and it will be what the doctor ordered!

I want to like this place because it is 3 minutes away from our home and the drinks and food are great but the service we received last night was HORRENDOUS. I don't write too many reviews but maybe the owner will see this and retrain the employees on customer service. I am sure we are not the only ones who have been treated this way.. they just don't write reviews and choose to not come back. But it was so bad I need to say something. It started from the minute we walked in the door. Two employees talking to each other right by the entrance who completely ignored us, not a hello be right with you, just continued to talk for at least 5 minutes with their backs turned to us. They both looked right at us and continued to talk and leave us waiting. Who does that? We should have left then but I didn't feel like driving to another place. Once they were done with their long conversation we sit down and order drinks, the first round takes over 20 minutes to come out. All the while the "friends and family of the owner" are being served rounds within 5 minutes. This is the spot at the bar that has sticky notes written that the seat is reserved for friends and family of the owner 🤣. Mind you there are plenty of employees standing around talking everywhere. Seems like a bit of a free for all, doesn't look like a manager is around or that probably wouldn't be happening. The employees are just doing what they want, talking, hanging out, going in and out of the backroom with patrons, just unprofessional. The waiting happened everytime we wanted to order a drink..mine sat empty for at least 30 minutes on the table empty ach time before I was even asked if I wanted another. What a loss in sales!!! I could have ordered multiple drinks within that time. But instead we waited 20 to 30 minutes each round for a beer and mojito. That is totally insane!! Not to mention we were there 2 hours before we even got our food order in! The server kept passing our table and going to every other one but us!! When we asked him about the food he said he thought he put it in already. What a joke! We were there 3 hours! All we wanted was to have a few drinks and dinner and enjoy ourselves but instead we were ignored and treated...
