The Original Mario Fazios — Restaurant in Willoughby Hills

We came here for my dad’s birthday as a party of 5 including a toddler. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant and the service we received!

First, I have never been to a restaurant that is so welcoming to young kids. As we walked in they let me know there was a toy box that he could pick something out from once he got fussy or at the end of the night. We sat down and almost immediately they served him an apple sauce, small bowl of peas and a plastic straw kids cup of water. Once he got fussy right before our meals came we walked over to check out the toy box and he picked a little dinosaur. They also brought him out his own small piece of cake for dessert.

Everyone loved their meal. Dinner came with bread, soup or salad and cake. Portions are huge! The garlic bread and salsa like dip was so good. The veal meatballs were genuinely some of the best if not the best meatballs I’ve had. Dad got a pizza and it was gigantic haha but we will enjoy it for lunch. Pasta and sauce were all very yummy. Mom got a grilled chicken dish and really enjoyed it

Dessert was a very fresh and not overly sweet vanilla and strawberry cake. We also ordered the Sunday. Everyone loved dessert too.

Our server Nick was super nice and very on top of everything. We were all super impressed with the overall service here. It’s just such a warm and welcoming place

We have been here before and always had a good experience, so that is why we decided to have a family party at MF. The food is good and the staff is friendly but I was so upset with this last experience! Our reservations were for 530pm and by 720pm we were being pushed out the door! People at the table had half full drinks that were paid for, that they were taking away! It was unbelievable and rude! I have never been to a restaurant where they say "your time is up, there is another party waiting, thanks for coming". I had reservations and no where did it say there was a time limit. Everyone was having a good time and we probably would have ordered more drinks, coffee, etc if they didnt kick us out. It is not our fault they overbooked there parties. I have worked in the restaurant industry and if a table stayed around and lingered we basically had to deal with it, we were never rude and we never asked them to leave. Less than 2 hours is a short amount of time for drinks, appetizers, salads, main courses and dessert for a large party. We had to go out to the parking lot to say good bye because they were pulling the table clothes off as we sat there. I want to start out by saying the food is pretty good. That being said, the place is always too crowded to try to walk around, often even to get to the bathroom.

The last time I was there, my grandmother brought a birthday cake for my mom, and we informed the waitress that I have a strawberry allergy so I cannot have the casada cake provided with meals. When they birthday cake came out (which had no red frosting), all the pieces of birthday cake had casada cake with them. We reminded the staff I could not have strawberries and they apologized and said they would get me another piece of cake. When they brought out the piece, which I could tell was all that was left because it was larger than the rest of the pieces, there was red on the cake on both sides as if they had cut the birthday cake with the same knife they used for the casada cake. When I brought this to the waitresses attention, she got snippy and told me her daughter has food allergies and she would never do such a thing. I explained that there was something red on the piece of cake somehow and she repeated herself then rudely offered me some sugar cookies.

If I could he assured that my food would have no contact with strawberries I'd consider going back or getting take out, but since I cannot guarantee that, I do not see me returning...
