Checkers — Restaurant in Wilmington

This is for the Checkers on market street. For people who don't like reading long posts. Don't waste your time at this one and just go to the one on 4th street. Even if you live nearby. Ok now for the review. Checkers menus are awesome! They sell from wings, hotdogs(not just plain hot dogs either), burgers, fish sandwiches, desserts to loaded fries, mozzarella sticks, nachos and more! Not only are the menus everything but the food is good. I havent had 1 bad thing from there. Only problem is that there is ALWAYS a wait. (Market street)They'll park you so their wait times seem low (to the big boss) but in reality the wait time is so bad!! There will be 5 cars parked. That's ridiculous. They also always forget items. I got parked for one large fry and 2 apple pies (if you haven't had an apple pie from checkers go get 2 right now! They are covered in cinnamon and suger. So good) so i wait 15 minutes and go back to the window to make sure they didnt forget about me or anybody else parked because not one car has gotten their food- still wasn't ready and I wait some more. After getting my food and halfway home - I have to turn back around - no apple pies in the bag. I didnt even think to check because i mean why would anything be missing after being parked for these items. Several times items have been missing and i take the loss because i dont want to go back and sit there for 20 minutes for something that i ordered 45 minutes ago and should have already been ready. I contacted the number they have on the window several times and they sent me expired coupons. LOL - I've worked in fast food so I know they can do better!!! Time is everything when it comes to "fast food" (and because they dont have a dine in area i would assume they would want to be fast) So now I just drive all the way to 4th street to get checkers. I live 6 minutes from the one on market st but by going to 4th street I have my food and back home faster than going to the one up the street. Open up that second window, which is ALWAYS closed and put more people on the schedule!! If by chance the owner reads this-hire me so I can show you that you're losing money- I'll guarantee that you will make more money if faster workers were there. Nobody likes waiting that long. They'll just go across the street to McDonald's or go to the other checkers as I do. Nobody wants to have to check their bag every single time and every single time something you purchased is missing. Sorry so long but I really want y'all to do better because I love the food. Responded to this location on Monday 16 August 2021. Pulled up in drive through at 7:55pm, and was greeted with this pre-recorded message, “Thank you for choosing Checkers, we are currently closed.” Continued through driveway to exit and observed two employees inside laughing and joking around.

Responded back to this location on 17 August 2021, at 12:43pm. Was in drive through behind another customer, and sat there waiting for 5 minutes, and no one answered the drive through intercom. The SUV in front of me then drove out of the drive through. I sat at intercom for an additional 5 minutes waiting to be greeted. Unfortunately, I suffered the same results (no one answering the intercom). I drove through the driveway, looked in the take out window, and observed two black male employees inside laughing and joking around. I could understand them not answering the drive through intercom right away if they were busy. But there were no customers inside the lobby area of the business either. So what could’ve been the delay? I don’t understand (and am disappointed), about why the employees weren’t answering (or giving) customers assistance, AT LUNCH TIME. Came by for a quick bite to eat at this new reopened checkers on American and Lehigh ave. Ordered a Big Buford combo with a banana and chocolate milkshake paid and was told to pull up even though there was only myself and one other car in line. After waiting 15 minutes I parked and went into the walk up area to ask for my food. The so called manager Alayha was very unprofessional and rude. Comes to the window and says IDK what he rang you up for a shake cause out milkshake machine in down, you just want a slushie or something? Face all balled up like I did something wrong. I then tell her I want a refund because paid $2.50 extra for the shake she gonna tell me she reopen my check and took off the he shake so now I gotta pay for the meal that’s $14.46. At which point I told her hell now I already paid she gonna tell me I refunded you now you gotta pay for your meal. I ask for the refund receipt and she prints a copy of my paid receipt and gonna tell me the receipt not gonna say refund on it. Then starts yelling at me asking if I know how long refunds take.
