My grandmother, my aunt, and my mother ordered the clam chowder. Neither of them could finish their chowder because it was disgusting and cold. The manager was rude and disrespectful. And the waiting staff were incompetent. Yes, we had a party of about 20 people celebrating my aunt's mid 80s birthday party. So that my grandparents could sit at the table with my aunt, their sister, we moved a couple tables together and sat down. The manager then came up yelling across the dining room, telling my grandparents, "no no no you cannot move those tables". The manager proceeded to say that the fire marshal would get them for doing so. So I took it upon myself to call the fire marshal who informed me that there were no regulations except for not to block any exits. Also that there must be adequate access for people needing ADA facilitation. None of these where being violated. So the manager clearly able to see that my grandmother and my grandfather cannot walk well made them get up and proceeded to start moving the table before my grandmother could get up from the table. Which she was using to hold herself up. The waitress that my grandparents mother and sister had brought the drinks that they ordered except for she brought my mom a sweet tea. She had ordered a water and inform the waitress of such. The waitress then left the tea and brought my mom the water she ordered. And then still charged her for the sweet tea. When we ask to have the sweet tea removed from the bill, they told us that someone drank the sweet tea so they were charging us for the sweet tea. And finally the portions of food served we're very small and definitely not worth what we paid. When I was at fishy fishy just a month ago , the portions were nearly twice the size of what we got this evening. Please understand that something fishy has been a family favorite restaurant for decades. But this is by far the worst experience we have ever had and they will not get our...
Read moreThe service was fine. Was worried when I walked in on a Saturday at 1pm and there were only 5 tables occupied. All older folks. I was right because the food was not good and totally outdated. Obviously all pre-made, frozen and dropped in the fryer. Got the sampler and everything tasted the same. If you had a blind fold on, you wouldn't be able to tell on thing from another. No flavor other than the grease and breader. Green beans straight from a can with no seasoning. No clam in the clam strips, oysters were greasy balls of mush. Please dont do that to scallops anymore. My daughter and I left feeling ill from the grease and I still feel ill 4 hours later or I wouldnt have even written this. I didn't cause a fuss because I hate that so I left a tip, paid my bill and left. How can you be minutes from the ocean and have nothing fresh? Dont tell yourself you cant. There a fresh markets everywhere. I am a cook, I will come and show you. I try to support local businesses but you will not be in business for long if you dont start to cook some decent food. Fresh fish tacos, shrimp scampi, shrimp and grits (you are in the south), oyster stew, fresh seared scallops. They are all simple, can be had fresh, quick and easy. Please change so you can attract a new and younger crowd that will get you out of the 1980s and into the 2020s. Stop riding on the fact that the big dude with the spikey hair came by one time. I don't want to see your kind of...
Read moreSome of the best seafood in all of Wilmington, NC. Not too pricey either for seafood. I'd give this place a 5* rating if they had better side dish offerings. Their selection of sides are pitiful (i.e. boiled potato as a side dish, really, why not baked?) and the green beans taste like they just dumped it from a can and the corn on the cob is a once frozen small half of corn without much taste. Honestly, it's like the side dishes were an afterthought and they just randomly selected just a handful of odd side dishes to stick on the menu. But hey, if you just want some great seafood and aren't interested in sides, then this is the spot for you. Large portions of seafood per meal, perhaps large enough to share (especially if you and someone else aren't famished or if you and someone else just prefer to eat smaller portions...lots of seafood to share, minus the ability to share any of the wierd limited selection of sides that are not large enough to split). Anyway, it's a place locals choose for fresh, usually fried, seafood. Plus, their sweet tea is always hitting the spot. I definitely recommend trying their seafood at least once. Just remember that they need to step up their game on the side dish options and don't go in with any high expectations of getting a side salad, rice or anything you'd typically find on a menu at any other...
