Unfortunately a patron was heavily intoxicated, fell, cracked his head on the bar stool and broke the ‘wait to be seated’ sign in half. As nurses, we assessed him and strongly suggested that he be seen by paramedics. Our waitress/bartender (short, long brunette hair, round face, probably around 30-40 years old) brushed off the situation and scolded us for trying to protect and look after this man’s wellbeing saying that she knew him and we needed to stay out of it. I stated that we don’t know this man’s health history and he could be on blood thinners or other medications (not to mention he was very drunk and alcohol thins your blood anyway) that could result in serious damage, like a brain bleed. Our waitress said in a very condescending tone “do you see that his head is bleeding?”. We then explained to her that it could be internal and needs to be seen per our medical advice to ensure his safety. She responded by dismissing us and sending him home with a sober ride. Im guessing she was hurrying this man out of the bar -neglecting him of care- and didnt want us to call 911 because he was probably over served alcohol and she didnt wanted first responders to know. The rest of the night the waitress was very clearly discussing her distaste for us (although we advocated for him and she did not) loudly behind the bar to her coworkers- loud enough for us as well as other customers to hear her. It’s very disheartening that this S.O.L employee not only was publicly talking poorly about patrons helping during a medical emergency, but was dismissive about her customer’s wellbeing during a life threatening event… especially a customer who she stated she knew so well. Poorly managed ego should not trump someone’s safety. It’s ironic that their name is Slice of Life. The waitress took her name off of our receipt, so unfortunately we do not know who she is-Otherwise I would have stated her name...
Read moreThe good: A cool spot to hang out with friends, watch games/sports on their many TVs and friendly service/staff. They have pretty good lunch specials (price-wise). It's a clean place too. The bad: Pizza crust tastes, looks and feels like burnt cardboard. It's dry as a bone, except for the grease. Hardly any cheese (or it's just cooked to oblivion and the cheese is hard) and, evem though you have to pay for toppings, I got like 2 pieces of pepperoni on a slice which I had to pay extra for (the pepperoni that is). Overall, the pizza isn't that great. If you order by the slice, be prepared to only receive like a sliver of pizza. Very small/thin slices. One slice isn't filling at all due to the fact it's so small. But honestly, you probably won't want another slice anyway because the pizza is not good at all. If you're a Dave Portnoy fan who enjoys his pizza reviews, I'd say he'd give the pizza a 4.3 on his rating scale of 1-10. I haven't tried any other menu items, so they may be great (or not so great), who knows? But of the two times I've been here and eaten pizza, I've never been impressed with it. I'd never choose to go here ever, but I'd not object to going if this is where my friends or family want to go to eat. I'd go with them (for obligatory reasons only, not because I actually want to eat here). So, I don't recommend choosing this place for pizza only, especially when taking out. But, if you're looking for a cool little spot to hang out with others, drink something from the bar, or to watch a game, then this may be a good spot to go. Perhaps there's something great on their menu I haven't tried, but the pizza is a miss for me (and my family thought the same the last time we went....none of us liked the...
Read moreWe’ve been customers of SOL for a long time, and I have never had an experience like I did today. The service was absolutely the worst I’ve ever had anywhere! The Resturant was not packed but it was almost 2/3 of the way full. The waiter was so busy socializing with a customer he knew that the poor hostesses ( who were the only people working hard and busting and cleaning everything for the servers and bartenders) ended up taking care of us. We ordered 4 drinks got 2. We were ready to order and we were told we had to wait while the server took his other tables order first( who were also waiting). Our food was not what we ordered but the server only came back once (25 mins after the hostess served us )and by then we were so upset we just wanted to leave. The table behind us was never checked on and the table in front of us with children’s were even complaining. And we waited so long for the check that my husband finally went up to the bar and paid (where the bartenders were just socializing as well), and we didn’t even box up the food (that was wrong to begin with)that was left. As someone who works in the food industry daily I was horrified! Serve is the first thing you encounter in an establishment, and unfortunately in the situation it made me realize we will never go back in for a meal. I hope that someone sees this and realizes that something wasn’t right and...
