I drove from the triangle just to get this soul food, it was the mustard greens that brought me. Thanks to my coworker T James who is so sweet she treated me to a turkey wing dinner! From that plate on Sylvia’s has new customers I brought my son and sister, we all agreed this is our new spot worth traveling the hour and fifteen minutes for. Everything was fresh, the servers were pleasant and warm our meal was affordable for this economy and they were not stingy with the servings! Our meals came w a drink and some of the best hush puppies I’ve had. I missed the sweet potatoes pudding and Mac n cheese but that just give me another reason to return for my chitterlings plate. We had bbq turkey wings, pig feet, ribs, collards, mustards, yams, coleslaw n banana pudding EVERYTHANG (int.) was on point, I’m just upset I didn’t know about them before 11/16/23 otherwise they could’ve helped me prepare my thanksgiving meal w ALL the extras, so I look to hv them do a surprise 40th celebration for my sis! I pray the Almighty God blesses and keep this establishment I felt like I was amongst family like I was eating gewdt cookin’ from Mama nem and you will too!

I was in Sylvia's restaurant on Dec.14,2021. Everyone knows me from ordering pork chops. I only order fried so I didn't see any. So I asked and the girl said it would be 15 minutes. Normally it only take 7mintues. But I just thought she had something else to do. I said I will wait but I am going to the car to wait because my legs were hurting. This was at 3:42pm. I go to the car and come back at 4:00pm. I said I ordered fried pork chops. It was another girl up there. She said all we have is in gravy. So I said I waited 15 minutes in the car for nothing. She looked down because she heard the girl tell me it would be 15 minutes. I said is Sylvia here she said no. So of course I am hot now because if she was not going to cook anymore all she had to do was say so. I waited for 15 minutes for nothing. So on Dec. 22,2021 I went back in there. Just as soon as I walked in the girl that told me it would be 15 minutes headed straight for Sylvia. I waited for Sylvia to come up front. When she came up front I called her and she turned around looked me directly in my face. She turned back around and did not acknowledge me at all. Poor customer service. Disappointing Experience During My First Visit

This was my first visit to your restaurant on Sunday April 13, 2025, and unfortunately, it was very disappointing. I asked the waitress if I could have the children’s buffet due to medical reasons. I provided her with my surgical gastric bypass card and a special menu request card from my physician, both of which clearly outline my dietary needs and limited eating capacity.

The waitress took my cards and returned later with another staff member, who was immediately rude and dismissive. Without any attempt to understand my situation, she loudly stated, “She’s not going to allow this!” I tried to explain that I have a documented medical need, but again, she rudely interrupted and repeated, “She’s not going to allow it! Then we’d have to let everyone do it!”

At no point was I treated with empathy or basic courtesy. I calmly took back my cards and left feeling humiliated and disrespected. I have never been spoken to in such a rude manner, especially when I was trying to calmly explain a medical condition.

Because of this experience, I will not be returning, and I hope you will consider addressing this with your staff so that no one else is treated this way...
