McGrane's On The Green — Restaurant in Winchester

Sorry it's a little long but please read the entire review. Food is ok but the two star is for the service. If you are a regular here, you are in for constant attention and care. If you are not, you are invisible. My wife and I are new to the area and have been to McGranes four times. Every time, the staff will take out order and that's it. They do not come back to check in if everything is OK and I have to catch someone for coffee. Second time we went they never came back after dropping the food off. Our drinks ran dry and we had to go up to get our check. To top that visit off, the owner/ cook stood at a table across from us talking to people he clearly knew. And do not think they were busy either because there were only two other tables with people at them. But this last visit makes me question if I will go back. My wife and I went in and sat down. The waitress gave us menus and left. Another table came in a few minutes later and another a few minutes after that and sat on either side of us. The waitress immediately went to one of the tables "hello boys, how are we today?" What can I get you?" The second table sat and again. "HI, how have you guys been? (Lite chatter), are you all set to order?" All the time we are sitting there waiting. They finally took our order. The other tables got their food before us(the first table got their food and left before we got our food). The waitress did not come back until she asked if we were ready for the check. Best Berkshires Brekkie.

Brekkie is my favorite meal of the day. No offense, I have pretty strict standards about what makes brekkie so good. So when friends and I attended Croptoberfest over the weekend and some were from the area, I knew this place had to be awesome and I was excited to try. Plus, Sunday brekkie is statistically the best brekkie day.

The waitress we had was a problem solver and quick thinking on her feet, I asked for a cinnamon raisin bagel with my brekkie and they did not have any. So she came up with the creative solution to butter the bagel with cinnamon and have me raisins on the side. She didn't accept the no for an answer and just made it happen, that was magical. It was the cherry on top of my perfect weekend. That is what above and beyond is all about. Excellent service (GIVE THEM ALL A RAISE THEY DESERVE IT). They handled me, 2 very hungry friends and 1 hungry boyfriend with breakfast love and care. You cured my slight hangover, thank you.

Food was fresh, eggs cooked perfect 🥰, I can't stop thinking about your homefries. I can't wait to come back after Croptoberfest next year. 🍳🥓😘

PS- I'm mad about 3 things: #1 you're not close to Warwick RI at ALL 😡 #2 your portions are so big that I couldn't possibly have tried the biscuits and gravy with my steak and eggs so now I'm gonna have to come back next year and try them, waaaaah #2 I really have to wait a year to come back. My family and I love to go on random drives each weekend just to explore our state. During those drives we decide to support and eat at local businesses. Today we stopped at McGrane’s, we were greeted and allowed to choose where we wanted to seat upon entering. The breakfast offerings were ample. My wife and I ordered the All American and my daughter the stackable combo. The All American is eggs your way, with meat option, home fries and toast w/ coffee and the stackable comes with eggs and your choice of waffles or pancakes. Everything came out relatively quickly and the portions were great and the food was good. My only problem was with service - maybe because this has a locals only vibe or it could have been just me but the servers came by only once after we were seated from when we originally seated and offered coffee to when we received our food and got a refill. The rest of the time they ignored our table but had gone to other tables multiple times. Towards the end of our breakfast I saw one server cast a side glance to see if we were about done but never asked if we needed a container or the check.
