My great grandmother was 1 of the original owners of Klemms Bakery in Danvers. Ma way back in the 1960s. She was a strict , but loveable German lady who only provided top quality baked goods and customer service to her patrons. I am her 56 year old great granddaughter who has continued to support Klemms Bakery over the years in NH. I have always loved there baked goods and there is nothing like the German chocolate used in their Boston Cream Pie. My greatgrandmother Willimenia Klemm would be ashamed and disgusted with my most recent experience with her beloved bakery. I spent close to $20 on 2 bags of baked goods; chocolate chip cookies and hermits. I made thus purchase the Friday before Labor Day weekend in hopes of sharing some delicious Klemms baked goods with my husband's side of the family while visiting in CT. That evening we couldn't wait, so my husband and I broke open both bags to only discover, dry, stale, hard as rock s cookies and hermits. They were way worse than the day old section at Market Basket Bakery. Wheni I called to share my experience, not only did they put me on hold for nearly 10 minutes, when I connected with a "supervisor " and explained my experience and frustration given the cost, my tipping and my intention for the treats. she offered no apology, told me to bring back the items that were not eaten(over a holiday weekend) and that hermits were made fresh that morning. I then further explained my frustration given my family history and the fact that my greatgrandmother would never ever put poor quality baked goods out for sale and ask a customer to bring back inedible items on any day, large alone a holiday weekend. After I gave her my feedback she said she was not am inexperienced teenager and that I was incredibly rude. She took my name and phone # and told me next t time I'm in NH she woukd provide a refund. I didn't like her tone or her lack of customer appreciation and service. I'm no rookie in the world of baked goods. So I asked for her name and she HUNG UP ON ME! IM SORRY GRAMMY KLEMM thar your legacy has now turned into crap. Klemms isn't only incredibly overpriced, it does notf have any of the authenticity my greatgrandmother brought to all customers. I'm asking customers to rethink their purchases here. If you need a nice birthday cake take the time and order from ICIzNG ON THE CAKE in Newton. Ma . I promise you it will be well worth your trip for both quality and customer relations. If you need other baked goods, please go to Fredricks Pasteries in Amherst NH. The baked goods there are in an entirely different class than Klemm s with both taste and visual presentation All of their desserts are absolutely beautiful and have been huge hits at our family functions. More so forr my greatgrandmother than myself. I will never purchase another edible item from Klemms Bakery. They don't give a crap about people and. only want your money and are an absolute disgrace amongst their competitors in the wonderful world of sweets. I really hope this review saves many people from the stress, aggrivation. and extreme disappointment I experienced over a holiday weekend. They lost a steady customer over $20 and inedible, STALE treats. Save gour money, taste buds and stomach by selecting...
Read moreFirst time visit to Klemm’s. They are winners of “best donut” awards in the past. I am not impressed. The dough of the jelly, coconut, chocolate frosted, and maple frosted donuts we purchased was good- light, fluffy, nicely raised, not too sweet. The toppings and fillings were indistinguishable from one another, the sole flavor being sweet. I couldn’t tell the maple from the coconut from the chocolate frosted. The jelly had a slight medicinal flavor, and was sweeeeeet, but was not identifiable as any specific berry. Couldn’t tell if it was raspberry jelly or grape jelly, or even mixed berry jelly. We also bought a double chocolate donut. It was super crumbly, the cake part was overtly sweet with a slight taste of flour but not one hint of chocolate was to be had. The icing was falling off the donut in chunks, but that was fine with me because it did not have any chocolate flavor at all. I was very disappointed with these donuts. We also purchased a water, and an ice coffee. Both were ok. The coffee was nothing spectacular. Six donuts, an iced coffee, and a bottle of water was $17 and change. These donuts are no better than Dunkin’ Donuts. Dunkin’ Donuts also have no discernible flavor other than sweet. We...
Read moreFirst time guest - in search of the perfect cinnamon roll with my daughter who was visiting from out of town. Unfortunately, no cinnamon rolls, BUT, what they do have is AMAZING. Incredible selection of fresh cookies, pastries and donuts. A sign out front claims they won the best donuts in NH award. I wouldn’t doubt it for a moment. We tried what I think was called a “cinnamon fry”, which is like a glazed coffee roll that is huge, and has a fluffy texture (like a really fresh glazed donut), with a cinnamon drizzle, infused (my description) into the twists of fluffy dough. Absolutely delicious. Our taste buds were doing cartwheels! The young man serving us was polite, friendly and positive. Got us to buy some additional tasty treats. It’s a cute little shop that reminds me of some Italian bakeries growing up outside of Boston. Will definitely return and will post photos soon. It’s just west of 93 at exit 3. Definitely worth the quick detour if headed north or south. I would highly recommend you...
