Bob's Drive In — Restaurant in Windsor Township

I have been a long time bobs customer and I have gladly driven almost 20 miles just one way just to eat here and it was one of my favorite small own food businesses in the area and I would gladly drive the extra mile to support them. Yea in the past the wait times have always been a little bit longer and maybe the service wasn't always the best but the food was always the absloute best and the I love the atmosphere it was a superb experience! I have no clue what happned to you guys but earlier this year your quality and service hit bedrock and somehow continued to decline. I would say about 8.5/10 of my visits so far this year were awful. Sometimes it was an issue with poor food quality, something wrong with the order, or even a hostile attitude from the staff it was like nothing I had ever experienced at this establishment. Every visit even if it was the rare good one I saw or heard someone else complaining about related issues which I experienced aswell they were mainly related to the staff being rude, issues with service, poor quality of my food or wrong food regardless I figured with the change of management announced earlier this year maybe things will change for the better right? Well wrong if anything it's gotten worse! I have given you guys second chance after second chance just because i grew up with this establishment and wanted to support you guys but I'm done you have lost yet another customer of over 10 years congratulations Bobs!! Also I have recommend you guys to all my freinds and family I even promoted you with my local car club when you had your car shows but I'm not making that mistake again. Customere be warned you are not valued is what i will tell anyone from now on. Maybe if you guys decide to get your act together I'll give you my hundredth second chance but until then you have lost a loyal customer. Lastly a piece of advice for the management maybe you guys should focus more on training your staff, ensuring they know how to make whats already on the menu correctly, discussing with them the issues your customers have been expressing, and monitoring them making sure they are not messing around on the clock and doing their jobs right rather than spamming your facebook page with all your new trendy new menu items or the exact same pickle drinks for the 3rd day in a row. I sincerely hope you guys get your act together and bring back the old bobs because this place used to be a hidden gem. (Side note I have since posted this to Bobs Facebook page and my post was deleted and I was blocked that really shows how much you guys care about a honest opponion of a long time patron you cant even stand to see some honest...

It takes surprisingly long, not quite Fuddruckers long.. but awhile. The lettuce was sad, (especially when they charge extra for it), the onion was harsh, and the burger was crunchy outside, and overdone inside. (update: the second time, burger was just well done but no crunchy outside.. which is sad as they were on to something there) they need a hotter grill. Burger is thicker than say, steak and shake/shake shack, but not quite mcd quarter pounder. (if you want it thicker, get a double). I could do better outside without some angus chuck from Dierbergs on a grill. The fries were mushy, the concrete was watery and not enough flavor. Granted I asked for hot fudge and that is hard for most (but not all) places to accomplish.

In the end, burger is better than mcd, or maybe even Wendys though the toppings on them are worse and the fries need serious help. And the place takes awhile, even if you are the only one there. Yes, 5 guys and Fuddruckers take awhile too.. but they are more consistent so at least you know what you are getting.

Their menu is quite large with a lot of items I would go back to try, but I probably will not due to the lack of consistency. Maybe some of them are good, I do not know. I'm afraid I'd get mushy underdone toasted ravs, or burned ones.. and I don't want to risk it. The place is nice otherwise, (the sign is hard to read from a distance) but the outdoor seating area is a nice place to visit. They even have some of it covered.

If they could get that crispy outside again.. but not overcook the inside, they'd have a backyard bbq style burger and it'd be really good. (they'd still have to fix the toppings and fries). If they did, then I'd highly recommend them. As it is, its sort of a gamble. But at least the burger itself is probably better than...

July 2022: Please bring back the fried zucchini and mini tacos along with regular cheese sauce! I got some cheese sauce for my kids fries and it was some sort of chipotle sauce so they were disappointed. Mini tacos seem to fit with the tacos bobs theme. They are the whole reason my kids have loved going to bobs in the past. I enjoyed the new street tacos but they could use more sauce and cheese. There was barely any on mine so they were a tad dry but still very good. Enjoyed the street corn. The grilled cheese is a better quality now than the old bobs. A suggestion, please don’t staple your bags shut. I opened one to look to check the order and it ripped the entire bag and on another bag the staple came out and i had to search for it amongst the fries so my kids didn’t end up eating it accidentally. I was glad I checked my order though because it was missing two items and contained 1 item i did not order. If you get a funnel cake, just fyi, it’s not a shareable size.. its a mini individual helping. Would like to see larger family shareable ones. All and all I will go back for sure. I hope they open the drive through and open up more days of the week!

original review-3 yrs ago: Love this place. They have a great variety. Great burger and ice cream. Downsides- Service is slow and prices could be a bit lower. They upcharge for a slushie in a kids meal rather than a soft drink. Makes no sense cause if you look at the menu a small soft drink and small slushie are the exact same price. Also will not substitute the seasoned curly fries for the regular fries in a kids meal, even for an upcharge. I would give 5 stars is they were a bit more flexible and fast.
