Burger Station Inc — Restaurant in Winfield

Today is not the day to go to Burger Station. Read about this place on Facebook / Wichita by E.B. so thought we would give it a try. We strive to shop local as much as possible.

Notice, sometimes they only accept phone orders. Man on the phone sounded irritated. Ordered 2 double Chiliburgers and fries. We thought we heard our name called, and went to get order. Was told no it wasn't ours. Waited for some time, saw 4 or 5 more people who placed orders after ours, pick up their orders. We inquired again, counter person grouched at us that yeh, it's been sitting her a long time! No kidding. They didn't call out our name, we were anxious to eat, so we were paying attention. Enough to hear several names called multiple times. The order was wrong. We ended up with one double cheeseburger no chili plus bacon ( didn't add bacon) and one double burger plus bacon no chili.and a side of extra grouchy to go... by then, we didn't bother getting it corrected. What's the point? The burgers were just okay and the fries were miserably cold.

So, I'm still a bit surprised writing this. I walk in and have no idea this is a "call in only" business. The man said "What's your call in?" and I was a little confused so I just said "A double cheeseburger". He asked me if I called it in and I said no. He said they are only doing call ins but he directed me to a sign outside the building with the phone number and then told me I should stand outside and call him. There was clearly no one else around and nothing was being fried. I thought he was joking so I asked him "Just to be clear, you want me to walk outside, call in this order and then stand outside and wait in the rain?" He said, "If I don't make you do it then I'll have to let everyone do it." I just gave him an okay and walked out the door. Such a bad policy and terrible delivery to the customer. We drove 43 miles one way to eat at what USED to have great service and was people friendly! After checking their website to be sure of arriving on time, closing was listed at 7pm, we arrived at 6:02pm! The lights were turned off just as we pulled up, a young man ran out to grab the outdoor menu, ran back inside, and shut then locked the door!!!! The older "gentleman " behind the counter looked at us and mouthed,"we are closed."
