The Homesteader — Restaurant in Winner

I was in winner on business and was looking for a steak dinner and found this place. I ordered the large cut ribeye and grilled shrimp and baked potato and a dinner salad and it was outstanding! The steak was such a great cut and it was so tender you could cut it with a fork. So delicious. The waitress was an amazing lady. She was such a kind soul and we visited when she came by a couple times briefly. It was so refreshing as I am from Nebraska I love the Midwest culture. My kind of people through and through. She was always so polite and friendly it was so nice to see a smile as I travel everyday for work I don’t get to socialize a lot so it was greatly appreciated. Thank you. The atmosphere was such a nice rustic wooden bar and had a few tvs mounted on the walls for games or what not. I really enjoyed my experience here and I would give it a solid 10 of 10 for a bar restaurant environment. Give it a try. If the locals frequent these places then why wouldn’t everyone else. We were passing through and really wanted a healthy meal with vegetables, so came to Homesteader 2. The prices were ridiculous. A chicken strip dinner was around $24. The three of us finally opted for the salad bar, which was $13. I expected a decent salad bar for this price, but this is what it consisted of: iceberg lettuce, 4 salad dressings, cucumbers, carrots, celery, boiled eggs (seemed fresh, but tasted off, so couldn’t eat them), cottage cheese, 2 pasta salads, and canned chocolate pudding. We should have left and gone somewhere else, but there wasn’t a lot to choose from. The only reason I gave the restaurant two stars is because it was at least clean—although, it’s pretty easy to keep a place clean when there aren’t any...

As an out of tower, was treated to a dinner at Homesteader. I was very impressed, not from the outside, but by what was inside. From just inside, the floor, the immaculate table settings & everything that I saw, was just right. We were early dinners so no patrons yet.
