I wanted to give this restaurant some grace because it is literally out in the middle of nowhere and the server was sweet. However - the food was horrendous. They must have had a sale on jalapeños- and before you ready any further I DO enjoy spicy food…. The salsa that they served with the chips was blistering spicy. We thought it was a fluke - but then we ordered guacamole “deluxe” which was regular guacamole with cilantro and jalapeños on it. Not even mixed together. So spicy. Then my carne asada came, first not sure what cut of beef it was but it was off. Maybe strip steak or I don’t know - but the texture was not steak like and it was in small pieces. Those pieces were cooked with jalapeños so it was so spicy it burned. My husband was sweating from the spice of his chicken fajitas. The rice was so overcooked it resembled mashed potatoes - no individual grains. The beans weren’t any better. We both left completely unsatisfied and with unhappy stomachs. Thankfully there was a Sonic on the way to the hotel so we could cool down with milkshakes. It was the most disappointing “Mexican” meal I...
Read moreWe had been traveling from Minnesota to California this was our 4th night on the road. We road weary and just didn't want to do to much. We picked El Pueblo because it was literally right down the road. It is a small restaurant with 2 of the sweetest women running it. I had a margarita, I think it was $6.00. It was soooo good. It was delicious. We ordered a'la'cart he got 2 chicken tacos and I ordered a pork and potatoe taco and a chili reliono. All was fantastic. One of the ladies brought us chips and salsa when we sat down and since we have gotten older we can't do to spicy. These 2 ladies did all they could to "cool" it down for us. They were gracious and treated us like they were happy we were there. We will stop again on our way back to MN. I actually hugged them both when we left. Stop in and...
Read moreLooks can be deceiving. Stayed at the Best Western across the parking lot and didn't want to drive anywhere. Some may say it's a hole in the wall. There was only 1 lady working the front and she was extremely busy. For some she could have come off rude at 1st, but was very pleasant once a huge to-go order was picked up. Food was really good. Being from Virginia and having typical "Americanized" Mexican this was delicious. We ordered Chile Rellanos, a beef burrito and the tamales which my kids split. Chips and salsa great. Some dishes had some heat to them...something we aren't used to but was more authentic. Don't expect upscale, expect good food, reasonably priced and be patient with the server, right now no one wants to work so those who are are stretched thin. ...
