With not too many cafes and study spots that are open late night other than Izziban Snowbean & Stardust Video, I discovered Austinâs Coffee, a nice and cozy spot where I worked on academics from 5pm to 20 minutes before 2am closing time. It happened to be Open Mic night from 8pm to roughly midnight, which, rather than posing as a âdisturbanceâ to my homework, served as nice and enjoyable ambiance that proves as to why Austinâs Coffee has been in Winter Park and the Greater Orlando area for some time.
Since my long stay, I ordered a few things over the course of my time. I enjoyed the cuban sandwich with pasta salad, but would probably choose the chips as a side next time. Matcha was out so I chose an iced latte, with the mistake of not adding any sweeteners or additional flavoring, so I didnât really finish it. Simply my fault though. The chocolate cake was chilled and indulging as well.
I was initially a bit apprehensive coming here, afraid that my appearance doesnât really fit the âhipâ aesthetic, but to my surprise, the employees who make up the establishment are nice and welcoming. You can tell they work hard and are a positive characteristic of the cafe.
I came for the productivity, and wish to stay for the people. I hope to become a regular here. As a coworking space in the daytime, a place of live entertainment in the nighttime, which eventually slows down into a spot where you can simply just talk with friends or play tabletop games, I had the pleasure of witnessing a day at...
Read morei came from out of town to go to a jazz jam and ew!! for those who want to get to the point: gross coffee, roaches everywhere, and an extremely dirty space. as soon as i walked in my allergies started acting up even while already on my allergy meds. i could barely breathe the entire time i was there even after taking more allergy meds. if youâre sensitive to dirty and dusty small spaces with even dustier furniture i would refrain. their bathroom is also disgusting. i love graffiti bathrooms and thereâs is definitely one, but they also have a petty little sign up that their walls are for âartists onlyâ. whatever. i also saw a dead roach in the middle of the walk way, as well as two live ones walking around in the few hours i was there. i got a latte upon arriving and it just wasnât very good. very sweet and milky. after i saw the roaches all i got was a soda and cleaned the top in the disgusting bathroom cause i was just there to support my friends. i fear this place needs to just shut down already. there are a ton of better options in orlando. i think its weird that they are constantly asking for their customers to save them instead of just stepping it up so that...
Read moreAustin's coffee shop isn't fancy or anything "special", and in the same breath is everything that chain coffee shops aren't, a special place to grab a cup of coffee.
It is a great place to meet new people, have quality conversations and leave feeling more inspired than when you came.
Art from local artists embellish the walls and cover the brick base, some for sale. Eclectic chairs and sofas, with a few booth tables and tables, make up the floorplan, bringing people together while allowing others to study.
People of all ages and walks of life frequent the spot and make it a true gem of Winter Park. It's one of the few places you can study or have a chat at 1 am with a coffee or a brew in hand.
Speaking of the coffee, they have plenty of options, with a food and pastry menu to go along. I generally get an iced coffee and a pastry.
The best part is it is locally owned and one of the very few places to stake a claim to that in the winter park.
In the opening statements, I clearly contradicted myself... Purposefully. Terms like "special", ambiguous by nature, deserve personal interpretation, and I highly recommend you take a stop by Austin's to define it for...
