I've been going to Fairbanks Diner for quite some time. The food is good with reasonable prices - the service has never been great. During Covid19 I would get take out from there as it was convenient and I was familiar with their menu. My advice? If you get take out, be sure you check the order before leaving. I got all the way home to discover part of my order missing. Their solution? Come back and we'll give you the missing part. This, of course, means the first part is going to be cold by the time I eat but they did not care about that - you can pay for food and if you have to eat it cold, well that's your problem not theirs even though they screwed up the order. Since take out orders are leaving the restaurant, wouldn't it make sense to check for accuracy before watching the customer leave with the order. If they can't be bothered the check the order or re-do the entire order so it's all hot, then I just can't be bothered to eat there anymore. I suggest Linda's Diner down the road, College Park Cafe, Nick's Diner or any of the other restaurants in the area that actually manage to get the orders correct. After returning the partial order I was given, and getting my money back, I ordered from College Park Cafe - when I arrived my order was ready to go and it was all correct!! Imagine that! Good luck if you order take out from Fairbanks Diner - they really don't care if they keep customers during these difficult...
Read moreThis restaurant has been a "family tradition" since my 25 year old was a baby... It was a tradition to go long before she was even in the works! It's a small local business, and we are big in supporting small local operations... but that's just an added plus. It's a definite neighborhood diner style set up, with delicious made on site traditional menu items... Breakfasts include anything from two eggs and bacon with a biscuit to a short stack -n- eggs... They have great French toast, fantastic omelets, the best "home fries"... But hands down, our go-to must have is biscuits and gravy. These babies are so good that we will get a half order even with another full breakfast order. They are THE BEST I've ever had in a restaurant. You must include those with your order... Get there before noon, because sadly, there are times they run out because of popularity and just sheer deliciousness. Not in the mood for breakfast? Lunch it is! Choose from a variety of sandwiches and burgers, served with fries. Good restaurant traditionals to choose from. This is a great place, privately owned and operated, with friendly staff and waitresses. You won't wait long for your order, and refills on your beverage couldn't come any faster. They open early, (7:00 am?) and close at 2:00 pm. This is worth a visit... It may become one of your "family...
Read moreMy friend and I ordered takeout today from Fairbanks Restaurant, and unfortunately, it didn’t meet our expectations. We both opted for the farmhouse burger, drawn in by the promise of a fried egg. After a 30-minute wait, we were disappointed to find that our burgers didn’t have the egg as advertised. To make matters worse, the meat was dry, which made the overall burger experience less enjoyable.
The service was another letdown. Our server was polite and friendly during our brief interactions, but she didn’t check on the status of our order, leaving us in the dark about when we’d actually get our food. A little more attention and communication would have gone a long way.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant, however, was quite nice. The interior was cozy and inviting, but it was unfortunately a bit hot and humid, which detracted from the overall comfort.
In the end, while Fairbanks Restaurant has potential, the combination of poor food preparation and lackluster service leaves us hesitant to return. We hope they can improve on these aspects, as the atmosphere...
