I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was the best part of our experience.
We were at a function, so it was a buffet. Whoever set it up, placed the pasta after the chicken parm, so it chugged up the works, as no one wants to throw a chicken parm on their plate and then put the pasta on top. Not a big deal, but an odd experience.
I really enjoyed the chicken parm (it was not made in house but that's not a bad thing, considering the rest of our experience). The steak tips had no flavor at all and were overcooked. The warm food was room temperature...actually, the room temp was a tad warmer than the food. I can't speak to the rest of the buffet...I ate the chicken and lost interest in the rest of the food on my plate.
There was only one bartender and he was swamped. We felt badly for him (a very kind man) but my husband's margarita looked like lemon water. We watched him heavy pour others' drinks so were surprised that it literally tasted like a very, very weak lemonade. That drink and a corona was over $18. Total waste of money. The best part of the evening was our sweet waitress. She was lovely, efficient and prompt. We will never step foot in this place again. I can't imagine what the golfers think when they pop in for a...
Read moreNot just the usual pub fare! Bistro 19 at Kingswood Golf Course has taken our local option up a notch! All menu items have a creative twist that made us want to try just about everything. My husband ordered the Salad Nicoise for his favorite Ahi Tuna menu item but it was the salad items themselves that provided an interesting surprise at yesterday’s lunch. Items were varied, fresh, and plentiful with a dressing that did not overwhelm. I had the Croque Monsieur and was delighted with the perfect mix of tastes and attention to detail. We were told all sauces, salad dressings, soups and desserts are made in house! The homemade chips were crisp and not at all greasy even as they cooled down as I ate. I wish I’d had room for dessert. Next time!! Not to be fooled by the somewhat elegant sounding menu, prices were very reasonable. Bistro 19 is promising to be our new “go to”restaurant...
Read moreSave room for dessert (if you can). Bistro 19 has only been open for a a little more than a week and I can't wait to try more items on the menu. The restaurant is warm and inviting, the staff attentive, and the menu creative and considerate to people who have dietary restrictions (I am one). I've gone a few times with friends so we could all sample the meals the chef has prepared. One of my favorites, so far, is the cauliflower 'steak', which is a head of cauliflower that is grilled to perfection and served on a hummus base with greens and roasted chick peas. The blend of flavors is amazing! Any time I find creme brulee on a menu, I must have it. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. I can't wait...
