COLONIA BBQ — Restaurant in Woodbridge Township

Have been ordering here for years. My family likes their food. We ordered yesterday and food was delivered 3 HOURS LATER!! Not an exaggeration. Not sure if the person answering was new but they definitely need more training. Gave them my address and phone number initially. Called them after an hour and they said it was on the way without even asking what order it was. Another 30 minutes pass and I call again. They said again that the delivery guy has multiple orders and that it would be here soon. I called again after two hours. They said that they called the number on file and that they said no one answered- they documented the incorrect number. They said they rang the doorbell and the person said they did not order food. I then said can I verify the address you have also (they did not ask either if it was correct) because no one rang our doorbell - we have a ring and were all hungry so we were paying attention. They had a different number for our house. She said he would be coming shortly. I called again after another 30minutes. I wanted to cancel the order but she assured me that he was two blocks away. This was a lie bc food was delivered an hour later. We live 5 minutes if that from there. I even called at one point to pick it up and they said he was already out with the food. She never updated driver with new address only with new phone number I gave her bc they went to the wrong house again. I asked if our food would be warm since its been three hours. A different person on the phone said it would still be warm because they have something in the car to keep it warm. The driver called me to verify the house number. He still had the wrong one. When he got here we went outside to help driver find the house. We saw what we had keeping the food “warm,” it was a tin tray. Our food was not warm when it got here. Will never order from here again. When I called the employees made me feel like I was the one in the wrong for calling repeatedly- it should not take three hours for a delivery! Very disappointed with this place!!! Have been a loyal customer since I moved to the area 3 years ago, have used them before for catering and always order from them, have referred them to my neighbors and family. Well today once again, I ordered the same thing I always order, which is half bbq chicken and half beef ribs. There’s even been times when I’ve called and once I give them my number, they’ve asked me if I want the usual and always say yes. Today I made my same order. Once I got home, I started serving the food to my kids, which they always want the chicken first, I then noticed the tray had pork ribs (I don’t eat pork) instead of beef. I immediately called and said that’s not what I had ordered. I was told they were going to do the beef ribs and to pay the difference, ok that was fine I said. But then I mentioned I had already started serving the food, not eating it though. So I said, do you want me to throw the food back in the tray? They said no, they couldn’t take it because I had touched the food, I completely understand and agree with that. However, instead of owning up to their mistake and offering me just the beef ribs, they said I had to pay for a whole new order. Being a loyal customer, I’m obviously very upset that they would do that, if they had bothered to look at my previous orders they would know it’s my usual, it’s not like I’m trying to get free food, I was ok with paying the difference but I’m not ok with paying for a whole new order....

Good food but don’t order a full It’s a waste of money; a full is more like a 5/8ths or 11/16ths. It’s not twice as much food as a half which the name suggests. In my case I ordered a full lemon chicken and my wife ordered a half garlic chicken I received 4 pieces of chicken and my wife 3. You don’t get double the food you get a third more but pay more then 65% more for that extra piece.

The cost of a half a for my item was $13 ($4.33 per piece of chicken) a full is $20 ($5 per piece of chicken) the value per piece lowers by 14%. Unfortunately I can’t say this a one off and they’ve been pretty consistent with this ratio... The pieces of chicken for both orders were the same size. Maybe I’m crazy but when I go anywhere I expect the full to be double what a half is I’d also expect to save money by making the larger order but unfortunately that’s not the case here.

Hopefully they don’t go in the opposite direction and give you less for a half order to resolve their misleading full/half order discrepancy because then the portions would be significantly less then what you’d get from a competitor like Clark BBQ. I’d also suggest taking out as the chemical smell from the nail place next door is very evident and doesn’t make for the best...
