The Blackbird Cafe — Restaurant in Woodbury

Took a while for the waitresses to acknowledge us standing at the "please wait to be seated" sign, only for one to mumble, "oh, just sit anywhere". I couldn't even understand d what she was saying, as she didn't make eye contact, and barely looked up from what she was doing. When someone finally came, we ordered a cheese sticks appetizer which was good, except for the COLD marinara sauce-it was obviously brought straight out of the fridge-yuck! My daughter ordered BBQ chicken wings, fries and fried okra, all which came out great-grandfather was hot and tasted really good. I ordered the "jumbo" shrimp, grilled, with Cole slaw and roasted vegetables. The "jumbo" shrimp we're small to medium sized, not even close to being anything I have ever seen labeled as "jumbo". They were okay, but didn't have much seasoning or flavor. The roasted vegetables we're obviously the frozen "California blend vegetables", and tasted that way. However, the Cole slaw was the bomb diggety. It was crisp and flavorful- I would have ordered double slaw and skip the "roasted vegetables", had I known what I would be getting! Altogether, a "meh" experience- we may go back, basically because there really aren't many dining choices in the area, but will probably just stick to the basics, like wings and fries. Tonight, the bill was $39 for two people, and we didn't feel like we really got our money's worth. It was a Monday evening, kinda slow and hopefully, just am off day for them. I will give them another shot one day, but if the experience is a repeat of tonight, it will probably be my last. Tonight just wasn't worth $47...

This was our first time visiting Blackbird Restaurant. I would only give it one star, but the reason I rated 2 stars is because we had an excellent and attentive waitress and the fried mushrooms were very good. Two of us ordered chicken dishes, one was a chicken sandwich the other buffalo chicken salad. Acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Another party ordered smothered chicken; it couldn’t be cut with a fork because it was it was horribly dry and tough. I suggested sending it back, but he said did not want to do that. So he cut into the other side, thinking that the thicker part might be better tasting or more tender but it wasn’t. I asked him to let me sample it so he cut another piece off and I swear it tasted like sawdust. He was not going to say anything but I went ahead and told the waitress that his chicken was in edible. She took it back to the kitchen then came back and stated that they would give us half off the $18 dollar cost of the dish. He told her he was not asking for a discount off the cost but could they please just replace it and we would take it with us. She said that they could not do that because half of it had been eaten. Seriously?? He paid full price for a non edible dish which he should NOT have done but they did not care enough to make this right. We went shopping at some stores after and relayed our experience. Orders were read back to us and both were still made Wrong, We returned for them to be re-made correctly as my husband has food allergies,they rinsed The Burger patty on his & just toasted New HB Bunns they placed burger back in the same plate (with the Original fries that were Cold by then)and gave us the Take out plates, mine was still with lettuce but no allergies fortunately for me, my husband asked me to +aste his and see If it tasked like onion, it did and obviously was not a new burger but a "rinsed off" burger... and you cold definitely taste it on his plain cheeseburger taste, fortunately there's a Dollar General uptown to grab a box of Bynydryl just in time, my burger was supposed to be all the way w/o lettuce, still had lettuce but I just pulled it off and an not allergic, but my Husband mentioned his food allergy when he ordered,it was acknowledged and repea+edback to us as Well, everyone is human and we all make Mistakes,other than the Slight allergy problem we still reccomend,and do so highly because the food was great even after all that so it must be...
