Date Night Review
Firehouse Bistro, My wife and II have been going out on Wednesday night since we were married. It is our date night were we surprise each other by where we might be going or what we might be doing. At the top of our favorite things to do is dine out. Recently, we heard there was a new restaurant in Woodside called the Fire House Bistro
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a friendly polite receptionist that found our reservation and walked us to our table. We were promptly provided menus and water followed by our waiter. All were very polite.
At first glance, the ambiance is a complete reflection of the town of Woodside. It is sophisticated with an equestrian flair from the marble top tables to the art on the walls.
There was a short selection of wine by the glass from the California, France and Italy with a larger international selection by the bottle. There were enough choices for most diners
Shortly after we ordered our wine, we were delivered an assortment of olives that were delicious. When our wine was delivered we ordered our meal of Duck breast for the lady and slow braised short ribs with creamy polenta, roasted romanesco, picked fresno & mushroom sofritto, truffle sauce for the gentleman and we decided to share a salad.
Our discussion while drinking wine was about how spacious the tables were placed. Not crowded like most places so conversations from other tables were not distracting. We both felt comfortable and relaxed.
After a short time, dinner was delivered. We were both impressed. The duck breast was deliciously presented and cooked to perfection. The short ribs were also presented on a bed of yellow potatoes with a delicate serving of Brussel sprouts on the side. Both were delicious!
While priced 30% to 40% below a local 2 star Michelin restaurant, the food is on par with their food. To be sure of our assessment, we try to visit restaurants twice. The second time was as good or better than he first. An excellent mixed green salad and followed by pan seared Diver scallops and a smoked cauliflower puree, asparagus gremolata, lemon and sunflower seeds. The second dish was the petrale sole with frisẻe, potato purẻe, sauce grenobloise.
Do not miss out on the lime Huckleberry tart for dessert – outstanding.
This is a restaurant you will want to keep on your short list and return often. Being moderately priced we give them 4.5 forks out of 5 and look forward to...

Firehouse Bistro is a gem that blends French comfort food with the elegance of fresh, high-quality ingredients—and it absolutely delivers.
I ordered the Kurobuta pork chop, and it was exceptional. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and cooked to perfection, it struck a beautiful balance between rustic heartiness and refined flavor. Every bite felt like it had been prepared with intention.
The service was just as impressive. Our server was attentive, patient, and genuinely warm—no rushed orders or robotic exchanges here. It added a human touch that elevated the whole evening.
The atmosphere? Cozy and inviting. Firehouse Bistro has that rare “happy place” vibe where you can relax, savor, and actually enjoy your time out.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Whether you're a foodie or just want a lovely night out, Firehouse Bistro is more than worth a visit.

Read moreThe place: A unique dining at this cozy restaurant. It’s a small quaint place with a fireplace with only 11 tables. We went on a Saturday around 7 PM and get lucky since everyone was at the Stanford vs. Cal Berkeley game so the place was empty. We sat right by the fireplace. The bar area is very cute and down to earth but fully stocked. Food: good with beautiful presentation. We started with the butter squash soup, flavorful and delicious. Then the Filet Mignon and Burger for dinner, both was good. It has a very good wine list, for us we saw the Rombauer, Frank family and Stag Leaf which totally among our favorite wines. Staff: Cameron was our waiter and he was friendly, professional and very attentive. Overall, if you’re looking for a quiet homey, cozy, unpretentious and reasonable this is the place for you. We will definitely return in the...
