Offsides Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Woodstock

We've been there 3 times in the last 2 weeks. 2 times on a friday for fish fry and once on a Saturday. The first time we went for fish fry it was great, awesome live music, super friendly staff and the fish was incredible! They were super kind to my kids as well. We went again Saturday and the staff was a bit less friendly but not horrible. I ordered a meatball sandwich which was great it was like 3 mini sandwiches made to look like one. My husband said the ribs were decent. My kids got a bowl of mac n cheese. We went again the following Friday for fish fry. This time the staff was far less friendly, the live music was subpar at best. However, this time we got kids menues, and crayons which we hadnt gotten the previous visits. We ordered the fish, same as the previous week. My oldest ordered the meatball sandwich i had ordered the previous Saturday, my youngest ordered the mac n cheese. When our food came it was...interesting. The fish was far more greasy, the potatoe packages were much more onion flavored. The mac n cheese was half the size as the previous one. There's no WAY I would have thought to give a strip mall sports bar this many stars. It's just a big square building with sports memo all over and a good size bar. My wife went in after Groundhog Days for lunch on a whim since it was on the main road out. Man, Im glad we did. We had the bartender/waitress to wait on us and got a big smile and friendly greeting right away. Tabitha gave us honest recommendations of whats good and didnt let us down. Had a cup of chili first which was thick and rich and full of meat. Tall boys of beer for $2.50, ok real good start. It was a Friday after noon and was all you can eat cod for $10. My wife got that and the cod was cooked perfectly and cole slaw was spot on. I reluctantly tried their 2 jumbo hot special cuz Im a hot dog fanatic and these didnt disappoint. 2 large Nathan hot dogs dressed as well as Superdawg would. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars was that with quality food, you could have served fresh cut fries instead of the basic frozen kind. Go there if you are in the area and ask for Tabitha. Absolutely the BEST BAR & GRILL in McHenry County! From the top of the staff to the bottom, you will never find a more friendly staff. The owners are the sweetest people. Whether it’s your first time visiting or you’ve been a long time customer, they all treat you like you’re family. The layout is amazing and the decor is outstanding. This one place has so many fantastic deals and fun activities. Whether you enjoy playing pool, bags, darts, or singing this is the place to go. And be sure to check out a concert here.
