Came around 11am as I have before. This time was “one for the books”. We arrived and were seated in a booth after waiting 10+ mins although most people seemed to be waiting to leave. There appeared to only be one waitress a blonde young girl. While sitting we watched the others be seated. There were two couples, one showed up first and the other one with a man in a wheelchair. The waitress had the disabled man and his wife wait outside, I assume so he wouldn’t be blocking the door. It was 30 degrees (feb 18). After about 10 mins the wife of the disabled man came in to ask if the table was ready and was denied. There was now a table and a booth available. So the waitress told the first couple to sit at a the first available TABLE. But with any level of ability to critically think, it was quite obvious the handicap couple would need the table to be out of way of the exit once again because the booth was in front of the door. So before the waitress asked the others to come inside and sit at the booth in front of the door I say to the waitress maybe you should switch him to the table. I have a medical background so I think of these things. She says I usually sit ppl in a wheelchair where you’re sitting actually, which was odd since it was also a booth with a pole/table leg at the end, making it impossible to push in a wheel chair. Now the first couple had already moved to the open booth just from over hearing my suggestion to waitress. Then waitress went out to get the other couple but before she went outside the man was already struggling to get back in his car and left. So then I went on to order my food. I got crepes with Nutella and strawberries as I have before. When the food came the crepes are empty with a side of the toppings. I asked why it was like this since I never had been served cold strawberries on the side there before. She asked if i would like it remade so, I said yes I would so that was the strawberries would be warm inside. She comes back 30sec later telling me the chef would not remake it that I had to ask for it all put together and I could leave if I didn’t like it since I was being rude since I got there, that from the beginning and if I didn’t like it to leave. Im assuming rude was referring to me advocating for the handicap man and that if I didn’t like the food the way it was I should leave. So I left. The waitress had no common sense, moved slow, didn’t show genuine respect for the handicapped man or myself. I really hope this is brought to someone in charges attention, i never take the time to write reviews...
Read moreWhen we first arrived we were given paper menus that were hard to read and were just unattractive copies of a menu which should have been a red flag. First impressions are everything so I really recommend they ditch the ugly cheap photocopied paper menus for at least a decent looking paper menu or a nice laminated menu. The waitstaff were really nice which is basically the only thing they have going for themselves. I hate to write bad reviews but I felt this needed to be said. We ordered two sprites and they were completely flat and didn’t taste like sprite. I think their fountain machine is not working properly and tastes like it needs to be cleaned properly. We switched our drinks for cans of root beer. The waitress was nice about it and acted like it happens all the time because the soda from the fountain must always suck. We had to wait a really long time- over thirty min for eggs. We didn’t mind waiting but then when the food came it definitely was not worth the wait. I could make better food at home for a third of the cost. I ate here years ago and I thought it was really good. This time not so much. The best thing was probably the buttered toast. My corned beef hash was just dumped onto the grill out of a can and flipped once so the whole inside was mush, the home fries tasted like boiled potatoes with no seasoning or onions or anything. The French toast was made using regular thin sliced bread and had no flavor- no cinnamon, no vanilla just dipped in egg and then a little powdered sugar on top, my daughter got scrambled eggs with cheese and it was literally scrambled eggs with a square slice of American cheese just thrown on top, not mixed in or anything. My boyfriend got blueberry pancakes and they were not good either - they were completely blue and you could tell it was because they probably used frozen blueberries. The crowd was mostly a lot older so maybe they prefer bland plain food but we will not be returning and I would not...
Read moreMy husband and I had been going there for breakfast for approximately 20 years! Food was good and prices were very reasonable. Unfortunately, due to covid and other circumstances, we have not been there for 4-5 years. A couple of months ago, I stopped there to get myself a breakfast to take home. A simple 2 eggs "over medium", home fries and bacon, no toast. When I got home to eat, the white of the eggs were still runny, and the homefries looked like they had been sitting on the grill all morning (dry and way overcooked). I was so upset, but thought better of bringing it back because there would have been a big scene! On another note, as I sat at the counter waiting for my food, I observed toast/muffins being handled without gloves!! Maybe the Board of Health should pay them a visit.
I am not one to give bad reviews, but that changed when I learned that some of my family were thrown out of there on Father's Day because of a bad review that was posted 9 months ago. My grandson was treating his Dad to breakfast, and chose to go to George's. They agreed to give it another try. Drinks were served, orders were taken, and after 40-45 minutes of waiting, they were told to leave! Not the best way to conduct business. Remember, word of mouth is the best...
