If I could leave zero stars for the service we received, or should I say, the zero service we received I would. The Cracked Egg certainly isn't as cracked up as everyone thinks. Two of us arrived on Saturday, Dec 28, 2024, around 1120 am, we waited a few minutes for small booth to be bussed, even thought the sign said seat yourself, the only seats available were a small two seater in between two larger tables within about 2 feet of each other in the back of the establishment, and a large 6 seater around the corner from the bar at the front of the establishment. We didn't feel like sitting elbow to elbow with people we didn't know, nor did we think it appropriate to take up a table for 6 when there was just two of us. All that being said, we sat in the booth after it was bussed, and we're handed two menus. Flipped our coffee cups over indicating we'd love a coffee to start. The waitress with the yellow headband made eye to eye contact with me several times without ever asking if we wanted a coffee or something to drink while we perused the menu. After approximately 15 minutes and never being acknowledged, she had a pot of decaf in her hands and I literally had to flag her down and point at my cup indicating I would like a coffee. She finally walked over to our booth, I requested regular coffee, she said ok, this is decaf, never even asking my guest if she wanted anything, we watched her walk back behind the bar, put the decaf pot back on the burner, never to return to our booth again. After 15 more minutes of NEVER being acknowledged or waited on we got up and walked out. We saw others who came in after us be waited on and served, specifically the two folks who sat at the elbow to elbow two seat table in the rear of the establishment. We then proceeded to Ollie's in Edwardsville and were waited on AND served all within the 30 minutes we wasted at The Cracked Egg. We will never be returning thanks to yellow head band waitress, and we have spent mucho denero previously there, which BTW, is one of the most expensive breakfasts...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have gone here many years ago when I lived in the area, always brought my aunts over for breakfast. Never had a bad experience then, have recently come back to the area and have been there several times, there has been changes of course, and I know some of the people who worked there who were not actually quality people, but the owner saw them lacking right away and got rid of them. I do agree with that, the people working there now are very nice and friendly, I hope that business does better so that they can hire a few more people so that the workflow is good, at present it does take a bit of time for your meals to come to table, but I feel that the food quality seems better than some other places I've been to so I don't mind the wait. I read some of the negative reviews and was somewhat surprised but most of them are fairly old, I do feel the owner is trying to do well, but I will say that some of her responses make me worry if I ever have an issue because I will not tolerate being spoken in that manner by a business owner. If such an event were to happen you would probably receive my review and no longer receive my business. In closing I think many people should come by and see for themselves that I think this is a very good restaurant, other than the hours are short closing at 3:00 p.m.. I usually come by after I go to the hospital for cancer treatment and is one of the main reasons I appreciate the food because I have not gotten sick by any of what I have eaten, not so with many other higher priced restaurants, yes I've read complaints about prices here and cannot understand because they are reasonable prices these people are completely wrong in some of these comments I believe that they are personally driven in some way, possibly some of the previous employees as I said I know them personally and they are not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood was good, Service was good the way the owner treats her young employees is absolutely terrible and uncalled for. She needs to take some Mgmt classes and learn that you counsel in private and praise in public. These young ladies were doing their very best on a busy Sunday Morning and she felt it necessary to berate and belittle them in front of customers. She should be ashamed of herself. Do Better!!! RESPONSE!!!! Lets be honest ,The Facts are the young girl accidently gave an order of toast to a customer whose order didn't call for it and you thought by calling a servers meeting on the serving floor to berate and accuse her of stealing from you in front of her peers was a professional move you are sorely mistaken. She handled herself better than most adults would've considering the unprofessional circumstances. She apologized for her mistake and then proceeded to pull 2 dollars and some change from her apron to make it right. Had she intentionally stolen from you why let her finish taking care of her two tables and why give her a menu to study so and tell her you're going to quiz her on it. Remember this!!! Say and forget it write it and regret it. She's not the lucky one you are. Social media and Word of mouth can make...
