One thing we noticed about this area is the incredible number of pizza places, haha! We were attracted by the name of this one, and saw many cars, so we decided to try it out.
I get the need to keep everything moving, but I wish we had been given some kind of guidance when we got the menu~ it was a little confusing to follow and we had a couple of quick questions that we didn't get to ask, so we quickly settled on a few things just to try. The smoked wings with the garlic/butter sauce are AWESOME- satisfying to any good home cook, for sure! Will remember them for that good stuff :) I liked that the broccoli pizza slices had actual seasoning, too, and the crust was super, just the right hint of crunch! The mushroom slice was decent, too- the tomato sauce seems homemade too, so that was cool!
Overall, the food was great! The service was okay- again, felt rushed not just busy. I wish we would have gotten some idea on the wait time - we were in the parking lot for those 4 slices and wings for over an hour without any indication as to where we were in line...based on other reviews, out-of-town customers don't seem to be of much priority. 🤷♀️I also personally wish someone would have held the other customers accountable who were blatantly flicking their cigarettes out into the parking lot. Disrespectful to nature, the business, other customers, and is illegal!, but everyone seemed like they just accepted that it was an okay thing to do. I understand you can't control what customers do sometimes, but you can decide what you will allow.
May try again in the future if we're in the area, but just be prepared to spend a while there mostly...and oh, get...
Read moreWhat the hell happened to this place. Oh yeah, the Covid outbreak. We have been to Victory Pig several times. It’s been an institution since 1942. Friends of ours turned us on to it years back. We had my brother in law in town (post Covid) and had been telling him about their fantastic pizza for years. He wanted to try it so we took the over hour long drive to Wyoming PA. We get there expecting to have a seat and a meal. To our surprise (we should’ve checked before we left) they were only serving take out orders in the parking lot. To be fair they have always done this but you used to be able to sit inside. You pull up, the waitress comes to your car, she takes your order and you pay and wait. She comes back out with your food and you’re on your way. Well we didn’t want to travel all that way and not have the pizza so we ordered a couple of pies and went to a near by park and ate. Man it was as good as I remember it. My brother in law loves it. The sauce is slightly sweet, the cooked onions with the sauce under the cheese is phenomenal. Super crispy dough bottom and soft (but not to soft) top. They also have pulled pork sandwiches, fries and other items but we don’t mess with that. We go straight for the pizza. They actually will deliver to anywhere in the world. At least I think they still do 🤔. I hope they open up there seating again. Honestly I haven’t checked lately, I will. The interior has let’s say a...
Read moreSodas are pricey I think $2.20 or $2.40 and get this: refills aren't even free.
There are little "rule" signs posted everywhere. For example pasted all over the front doors is a sign that states they don't allow outside drinks, which is fine, but they specify you can't even bring in WATER. Hilarious. Another sign inside reads "no separate checks for your convenience". In other words they're lazy and/or don't know how to perform basic arithmetic.
Don't finish all of the sub par pizza you ordered? Get a box! But check this out: they charge you 10¢ for the thing. I cannot believe they would bother making someone pay a measly dime for a takeout box after a meal.
Not a huge deal but it's cash only. C'mon guys, it's 2019. Suck it up and get a square reader or something.
Go to Pizza Perfect on Carverton Road. It's a better version of...
