As a local, I have eaten here since it first opened like many others. And like everything, with time, the food, service especially, has a tendency to wither. The place is small, extremely pricey but the food is really great. 2024 has brought its own special set of circumstances... the help is not very good n speaks poor English... the orders take longer than they should n the owner, well she clearly needs to get some help in the ppl skills area. Expect to pay 40 bucks for breakfast n of course they expect a 20% to 25% tip...not many choices on this side of town. Try Nora's in Wilson, 2 miles away.
N to the owner, I've read your responses here....NEVER start an apology with an excuse!!
The fact that you exploit J1 visitors, hire and pay them minimum wage at your restaurant is deplorable. They may speak 7 languages but 99.9999999% of ur customers speak English. This is why it takes 30 mins to order n finally get ur food. You should know better... but honestly, u probably don't!!
Deciding where I eat or what I do... not one of ur options!! But ur right, I won't be eating at ur withered vine establishment. And would encourage others to look elsewhere for food as well.
And what a surprise resonse... :)
The owner... somewhere between divorce n menopause!!

Read moreThe food is delicious and creative. Unfortunately, the front staff was rude and would not take my take-out order. I stood there for a few minutes while they helped others, walked around the counter to try to speak to someone, and then I walked over to the other side of the counter to get in a line in a socially distanced way. The entire time, they ignored me. Then, a man walked in and they greeted him and helped him immediately. I stood there and they didn't acknowledge that I had been standing in line. I can only guess that they wouldn't help me because I was wearing XC ski clothing and didn't look like the other patrons. What irked me even more was that they verbally ask for a tip. I wish I had tipped nothing and explained they were unfriendly and rude, but I was too uncomfortable to say anything and can't believe I gave them a tip for their snooty behavior. Though the food was a delicious treat after a cold XC ski, I will not be patronizing this restaurant next...
Read morePersephone used to be one of my favorite spots, but I’ve observed a noticeable decline in how they treat their customers over time. I ordered a prosciutto sandwich this week and after i've been served kindly asked if I could get some fig jam on the side. The male server was friendly, professional, and went to get it for me. But then, the manager stopped him, and he returned looking genuinely uncomfortable, apologizing that they couldn’t accommodate my request. You could see the disappointment in his eyes—it was almost like he knew how unnecessary the whole situation was.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time I’ve experienced passive-aggressive behavior here, particularly from the women working in the front. The managers, in particular, tend to act a bit too “smart” for their own good, prioritizing control over basic customer service. It’s disappointing to see how unwelcoming this place has become, especially when it used to feel like a...
