STAY AWAY.
So...
Food... Bad. Very heavily salted. Most of the food is cooked on the same flat top or deepfried in the same oil so has a uniform flavor. Half the menu isn't available. Most of the ingredients are frozen not fresh.items with breeding all share the same breading mix which has (again) a lot of salt. And it's the morton style salt that causes swollen lips and makes your tongue feel numb if you eat too much of it.
No one in our group finished a single entree. Flavors across each of the plates were very similar even though the entrees were very different.
It's one of those restaurants that slaps a state or country name in front of something for naming sake but with no rhyme or reason. For instance... Most places, will call something a California xyz by adding avacoda. California roll for sushi, California club for sandwiches, and so on. This place has a California dip, that's onion and mushroom... :-( ummm... Ok...
None of their "signature" items have been in stock for weeks or months in the case of some items like their elk or buffalo meats. So anyone planning on coming here specifically because they may have something that no one else has... Well, they don't have it either.
Sugar on fries??? Won't even get into that...
Drinks, most of the wines on the menu aren't available. The same goes for soft drinks and sweet tea/iced tea, not available. Most of the drafts requested weren't available either. And their "wide" assortment of "German" beers was, (1) and they were out.
Deserts aren't made in house.
Service was fine. The wait staff was relatively attentive and pleasant. Not much they can do with what they are given to work with so can't blame them. It's never easy to start out your waiting on a table with, we don't have a-f or w-z sorry.
Atmosphere, no music, no mood lighting, just TV playing above the bar.
It's quite obvious that the restaurant depends 100% on the clientele brought in by the dinner theater and the fixed menu that might be associated with tourists.
Honestly if they were not next door to like five hotels they probably would not get any business.
Pricing was about $30-40 an entree unless you go for the low end stuff. Not worth it. There are several other restaurants right down the street with significantly better quality for about the same price.
Run, far and fast, save yourselves before it's too late...
P.s. won't even give my dogs the leftovers because there is just too much salt for them to handle.
P.s.s Scraped off the breading on a section of veal and offered it to my Aussie and she turned her nose. She...
Read moreThis place was nice and the staff were very very friendly and accommodating. I only have two negative observations. The main one was that when we came there on a Sunday there were at least two things on the menu they didn't have. Reading past reviews, this seems to be an ongoing and unresolved problem. I think everybody will agree that when you give a lot of thought to what you want to eat when you're reading the menu only for the waitress to tell you that they are out of it, it throws sand into the machine and kind of spoils the experience because now you have to make a decision on the fly. We were given some type of excuse why they are short of items on a Sunday but management should plan ahead for this and have ordered more than enough to anticipate the shortage so every customer can have the best experience.
The second negative critique was about two of the food items. The potato cakes. I've lived in Germany for several years and I've had potato pancakes. I'm not quite sure what a "potato cake" is but I couldn't make out what I was eating. It didn't have a potato taste or an onion taste or really any kind of taste except the grease it was deep fried in. I was at a loss on just what the coating of the potato cake consisted of. It looked like it was coated in deep fried angel hair pasta. I'm not saying it was angel hair pasta but that it looked like it. I didn't care for them. Also, the German potato salad was a little confusing. I knew what was in it, pretty much mustard, but was disappointed that it wasn't real bacon that was in it but was, in fact, Baco's that you put on salads. Not sure if that food substance qualifies as bacon, but for a restaurant, especially a German restaurant, that is cheating and a cheap shortcut.
But the sausages, the sandwiches, the meatballs, the pretzels with the cheese beer sauce and the raviolis were...
Read moreIt's not really the type of restaurant for big families. It's more of like a little pub. We got there, pulled some tables together and then the wait began. The wait staff may have been a little busy but when we arrived less than half of the tables were taken. We had a group of 7 so not too many. The rough part was we waited for about 10 mins or more to be greeted for drink orders, then 5 or more, for a total of about 15 minutes on drinks, as we watched other newer tables around us get served. It was very warm in there without air conditioning and we almost got up and left. The only reason we didn't is we had our grandma with us and she walked pretty far from the hotel for her age! The food came out after about 40 minutes, another pretty long wait. The waitress was really nice the whole time, so that was nice. We got the food, it was all hot and it was alright. I can't really judge the food to well bc I am dieting and took the cheese off of my sandwich, the pretzel buns were good and fresh though! And my family liked the fries. We didn't really get refills until asking. It was just not the best experience for a family traveling when we just needed to relax and have...
