Masonry, in Yelm, has been one of our go to restaurants. I have never written a review on them before. Today changed all that. Ray and I were setting up our confidence building course for this weekend. One of our employees came out to assist. Her birthday was 4/30, so when we took a much needed break and took her out to lunch. Masonry is in the old Yelm firehouse. The big rollup doors are on the north side of the restaurant and work. It is nice when the doors are open in a nice day. Unfortunately, the road noise tends to be a problem. The staff work hard to find a happy medium for everyone. We were greeted by all of the staff when we arrived. There were a few open tables so we told to pick one and sat down. Menus and water delivered right away. I debated having a margarita but I knew I had more arena work to do, so I passed. Grace ordered the chicken bacon ranch wrap with their artisan hand made onion rings, Ray ordered the California Grilled Chicken on Ciabatta bun with fries, and I ordered the BLT on homemade sourdough with fries. Our meals came out hot and individually prepared. My sandwich was well loaded with bacon. Grace’s wrap was huge and well loaded. Ray’s chicken was hot, moist and tender. Of course, we had to have dessert. Masonry has a HUGE case full of cookies, pastries, homemade cinnamon rolls, and then there is the cake, cheesecake, and specialty dessert case. That case alone is a don’t miss. When our server learned about Grace’s birthday, she gathered up the chef and came out with a dessert for Grace’s birthday. Fortunately, or unfortunately, for Grace, by the time we settled on dessert, the restaurant was all ours. All in all, we had another awesome meal. I think we helped Grace have a great birthday albeit a few days late. Beyond a doubt, we will be back for more meals!!!

Vibe: Fantastic. A renovated historical fire station with a great beer, wine, and coffee selection. Lovely staff. We were checked in on multiple times by waitresses and every question answered. Such an exciting addition to Yelm!! Limited seating per the small space but I heard talk of expansion as well. Decor is suiting and stylish. A little too much road noise for a remote working environment due to the nifty garage style doors but a great place for everything else. No Wi-Fi provided but Kids and dogs allowed 👍 Pricing is accurate to what you get here, if possibly being a little high for the area (Yelm), but the portions are bigger! Food: Fire Chief Eggs Benny w fried potatoes The homemade slab of biscuit served with this dish was phenomenal. Soft and moist and perfectly grilled on the outside. Poached eggs were cooked to gooey perfection and the hollandaise sauce was well balanced lemon, butter, & salt. Just me being picky but I would love a non-pork option if they were able to add that in the future! Either way totally worth the indulgence. Masonry French Toast Again, the house-made bread in this dish makes it! This was a sourdough slab with a unique tempura-like coating. Flavor was good and lovely with strawberries and whip. Drink: Freya’s Gold Helles Style Lager, Odin Brewing, Tukwila, WA Lacking a bit of hop flavor but crisp, clean and light. Close to what I was looking for and would drink it again. (My preference with this style is a bit more of a German bitter hop to it.) And YES….if you’ve read this far, beer IS a breakfast food. Happy Shnacking Y’all 🍽

We decided to go North to Sumner through Yelm taking the country roads home on a beautiful sunny NW day. I randomly googled the Masonry cafe and used their address to guide me into downtown Yelm... We called the cafe and spoke to a very friendly young lady and asked if they were serving lunch as well as catering... They have a very small area in which to have a seat if you want to eat in and while we were sitting there we noticed that most of the locals call in their orders and pick up... They were so accommodating (even added a space heater for my 89 year-old mother)...we enjoyed sitting in the cafe eating our lunch especially when our view was the most tempting pastry case. Now about the food. We shared an absolutely delicious Reuben sandwich. (It was also absolutely grande). The choice to use fresh cafe-made sourdough bread was a perfect compliment to the the freshly made sauerkraut and corned beef. In my top five favorites from around the country... I'm scheming on how I can get back to Yelm for another. Super nice people and service, the food selection was amazing and if you like Reubens like I do, you're in for a special treat!!!

So I had the ribs and their chef salad, the ribs, the meat literally falls off of the bones and the salad is fresh and crunchy. I love their service. I love the people that work there. There’s always smiling they are also positive. Their like a family when you go there it’s like going to a family members house to eat they actually listen to you when you’re talking they are not trying to rush you out. I love it. I love it. my husband is overseas, and going there makes me feel like I’m not alone it’s family. I appreciate it. The food is outstanding. I cannot wait until I have the chicken fettuccine. Oh my gosh I’m so excited about it. . Everybody must go. I also love how they give military discounts. Every time I go in, it’s not just on certain days they support the military 100% every single time. Can you imagine if the military’s would work like some of the places that only have (military discount on certain days) only serve this country, on certain days, and then the rest of the days you’re on your own for safety and peace. But the military doesn’t act that way we take care of this country 24 hours a day so everybody in this country can be safe. I love coming there they support us military every single time they are open. Thank Jesus my Lord and Savior for people with big hearts for the military and their families when we are separated from my loved ones for overseas. Thank you so very much. We truly...
