I used to go here every week for years. Casa Trejo was the best. However since the ownership changed a while back, the service is horribly slow and the food is worse than the service. I haven't been there in a while because their food tasted horrible. However, my family and I went this past week to try it again since the last time could have just been an off night. I ordered 2 shredded beef tacos and rice. That's not difficult. Our bowls of chips were so hard and stale they were difficult to chew. When my tacos arrived, they had shrunk in size, by a lot, yet the price had increased from 10.95 to 15.95. The shells were the same hard and stale tortillas as was in the bowls. The meat had softened the lower half of the shell, but then it became like rubber. The meat tasted like it had been left in the refrigerator, uncovered for 3 weeks. You could taste the oldness of it. I couldn't eat it. My family had complaints as well about their meals not being fresh and seasoned. When the waitress finally came back to bring our check ( she never checked on us or I would have told her sooner) I told her I couldn't eat this disgusting food and it was old. She said she would tell someone. Fifteen minutes later, she came back and said the tacos were removed from the check. The manager didn't come and apologize for the lousy meal and service. The place was packed inside and out, yet I'm not sure why except Casa Trejo is the only Mexican restaurant in that small area and people have been going there for years! I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO CASA TREJO! You had "an off night" before, so this time says it's your normal standard. Your food, service and customer service skills speaks volumes. You don't care about your customers, product or your reputation! SAD! Avoid this place, there are other Mexican restaurants who...
Read moreCasa Trejo has been a fixture in Southern Yucaipa for decades. A few years ago, daughter Linda Trejo bought the place from her parents and added her moniker to the name. It is located in a small shopping center on County Line Road, a block north of 5th Street. There are three rooms of tables inside with very limited patio dining. The menu has all the standard Mexican fare and a separate, full bar is available. I am here almost every Wednesday because, bucking the "Taco Tuesday" trend, Casa Trejo features $2.95 tacos on Wednesday's. I always place the same order -- the waitresses even know my order by heart: One each shredded beef, shredded chicken, & ground beef taco's ($8.85), a full order of rice ($8.49), a cup of frijoles de la oja ($7.99), and a large iced tea with lemon wedge ($3.99). The taco's are prepared in the traditional way: Meat and tortilla deep fried, then garnished with twin cheese and shredded lettuce. Chips and salsa are served at no extra charge. (A word about the salsa: It is extremely spicy and they do not offer a mild version.) The waitresses are extremely friendly and hard-working here, so be sure to tip generously. Linda's Casa Trejo Mexican Food is Highly...
