Terry's Tavern — Restaurant in Zanesville

Ok, located in Zanesville’s grittier industrial side, along the river, is what was billed as Zanesville’s best dive bar - can’t verify that it’s their best dive bar ‘cuz we didn’t hit the rest, however we did enjoy lunch here after a morning of riding Ohio’s Windy 9 route on 555 or the triple Nickel as it’s known. Parking sucks for motorcycles, the neighborhood isn’t scenic and the place looks sketchy as hell - just what we were looking for. Place is very clean inside, they have seating outside along the riverside, however it was 88 and we were hot from our mornings ride so we opted for the air conditioning inside. The waitress was fun and fast. A couple of the guys got the fried baloney sandwich, which they enjoyed, 2 of us got cheeseburgers which were excellent. Damn good dive bar burgers for sure. Our 5th rider got the chicken wings with a sweet BBQ sauce & I know he enjoyed it. Our stay wasn’t long as we had a lot more miles to ride this day, however our visit was all we had hoped for. This use to be our “go-to” place and thoroughly enjoyed the music, staff and patron camaraderie. Unfortunately with the new ownership, have come new staff. The quality of patron that these new staff attract and bring in has turned a lot of us away. Several times we’ve gone in and the bar has had few customers and we still waited over 10 mins for a drink. This is something that has never happened before. More often than not, the new girls are on their phones or talking with their friends that have come in rather than building some rapport with the existing customers. They tend to be very rude and short. The only times we will go in now is if Toray, Bailey, or Jocelyn are working. I would much rather tip them well than tip some teenage girls trying to impress their friends. Hope this changes. This used to be my favorite place to go in Zanesville. Beautiful view of the river & the courthouse. Boats stop here all the time & you end up meeting a lot of really cool people. Service has always been good but at times they do get busy, but they have always been friendly. Their food has always been good too. One of my favorite places to get a cheeseburger. When they have entertainment we have never been disappointed. But their complete lack of cleanliness has made it to where I do not foresee us coming here again until things change. Floors dont look swept, restroom door handle falling off so I had to screw the 3 remaining screws in with my fingernail so I could pull the door shut. If the restrooms were cleaned, that definitely would have been noticed. Bar is sticky....
