tldr: decent food, almost overly attentive service, poor leadership/communication from higher ups made it feel like we were being deceived. probably better for big parties and big meals but not as much for smaller groups just looking to try a few dishes.
Full review: One of the stranger experiences we had in our 2 weeks in Vietnam since we've generally had amazing service everywhere else we've gone. Came by after night market shopping around Friday 10pm for a late night snack so we let them know we'd already eaten dinner and just wanted to try a few dishes. Atmosphere was pretty dead, only a few tables filled inside and outside, perhaps they're packed during dinner hours but it wasn't like we were taking tables away from anyone waiting.
Our waitress was really nice and patient but the manager stood right next to her and kept trying to upsell us. Ordered avocado smoothies but they were out of all smoothies, so we ordered guava juice but they were out of most juices.
A few younger workers stand right by the table the entire meal so they can help refill drinks, give you ice, or clear your plates when they get dirty. Very attentive but perhaps overly so. The two young workers who helped us were very kind, it was just a different experience for us having someone hover around a few feet away constantly while we're trying to eat.
When the bill came, we realized they charged us for using the wet wipes provided on the table (there were no normal napkins provided). That's fine, but we wish they would've communicated that using them would cost money. There's a 13% credit card surcharge which is more than we've encountered at any other restaurant thus far. In the end, we paid 700,000VND for 5 oysters, 9 shrimp, a veggie dish, 1 beer, a water, and 2 wet wipes. Food was decent tasting but we've had far better in our other stops for far cheaper. Ultimately, we really appreciated the younger workers service so we tipped them for clearing our plates and de-shelling the shrimp.
The placemats talk about a free shuttle service if your hotel is within 5km but when we asked, the waitress went over to another table where apparently the owner was eating and drinking with friends to ask, and when she came back she said there were no more cars available. When we were walking out and asked the manager about the service, she called a grab taxi for us from her phone so thought it would be a part of their shuttle service. But once we got to our hotel, we were confused when the grab taxi said we had to pay still. He called the manager and she explained we hadn't spent 1,000,000VND so there was no complimentary shuttle service provided. Once again, I wouldn't mind if that's the policy, but then that should be communicated directly or stated on the placemat, not after the fact. We had Vietnamese speakers in our party and all the ordering was done in Vietnamese so it wasn't like there was a language barrier.
I usually never write negative reviews but this experience stood out as such a weird service experience so I felt inclined to...
Read moreThis is an honest review… not one where they offer you 100K off your check if you leave one (probably why they have 5 stars). I’m in Da Nang with my BF for a few days and of course, we wanted to try some seafood. TinTin2 is in walking distance of our hotel and they have “great” reviews so we wanted to give it a shot.
When you approach the restaurant, there is a herd of girls that follow you to your table and hover around you as you’re browsing the menu. Literally, right over your shoulder, staring at your every move. I speak Vietnamese and kindly asked them to give us a few minutes but they wouldn’t let up. Super uncomfortable to say the least and makes you feel pressured to hurry up your order.
A lot of reviews say the service was great and I suppose it is if you don’t care about personal space — I also think a majority of the people leaving reviews do so for the discount. Personally I found it very annoying. We ordered 1 lobster, 1 king crab, 1 beef appetizer, 2 waters and 1 coke and our bill was $432.00 USD. Here’s where we admittedly made the mistake in spending this ridiculous amount of money — make sure to have your crustaceans weighed before placing the order. We had the mindset that everything is cheap in Vietnam without really thinking about the price per weight. The king crab was about $288.00 USD and the lobster was about $135.00 USD — not cheap at all! I guess we could have chosen smaller crustaceans if it had crossed our minds and it would have been more reasonable. The meat itself was delicious. Probably the best we’ve ever had because of the freshness, but the butter sauce they use is extremely thick and after a while, the flavor becomes too overwhelming. Eating seafood can get messy so they offer you plastic gloves, but the plates are basically tea cup plates and are very tiny in comparison to the abundance of shells. They do take your plate and dump the shells periodically but that means there’s at least one girl watching you eat the entire time.
Overall, our experience was just okay and I wouldn’t recommend it. There are plenty of other smaller restaurants that offer the same thing for probably half the price and way less hovering. The cherry on top is when we noticed that we were charged for the wet-naps they give when you are first seated but they don’t offer regular “free” napkins at the table.
Lastly, there was a gentleman who works in the back or maybe is the cook that was really nice and attentive (in the right way) that offered to pack our leftovers to go....

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit TinTin Seafood Restaurant to enjoy the extremely delicious and addictive tamarind sauce mantis shrimp, the very fragrant grilled eel with chili salt, and especially the cheese-baked escargot.
The restaurant has a quite spacious and airy space. The decoration is simple but very nice, creating a comfortable feeling for diners.
The staff here are very enthusiastic and attentive. I was carefully consulted about the dishes and served quickly.
The tamarind sauce mantis shrimp was truly amazing. The mantis shrimp were fresh and delicious, with firm meat. The tamarind sauce was tangy and flavorful, perfectly complementing the sweetness of the mantis shrimp. The grilled eel with chili salt was also very good. The eel was cooked perfectly, with a crispy outer layer and a tender, juicy interior. The chili salt seasoning was fragrant and flavorful, adding a nice kick of heat. The cheese-baked escargot was the star of the show. The escargot were plump and tender, and the cheese sauce was béo ngậy and delicious. The combination of the escargot, cheese, and garlic was simply irresistible.
The prices here very cheap it's really unbelievable
