My wife and I recently stayed at the Bonny Boutique Hotel in Da Nang, and while the experience had its ups and downs, it was overall a memorable stay. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from the very first moment we walked in. You could immediately feel their warmth and commitment to making us feel welcome.
We booked the penthouse on the top floor, and here are the aspects we appreciated:
What we liked:
Friendliness of the staff: The team was always approachable and eager to assist with any request. Helpful attitude: They went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. Balcony view: The view from the penthouse balcony was stunning and provided a perfect spot to relax. Spacious balcony: The large outdoor space was a great bonus. Value for money: Considering the location and amenities, the price was fair. Responsive management: When we raised a concern about the noise, they offered us a complimentary minibar and breakfast for 4 of the 6 nights we booked, which was a nice gesture.
What we didn’t like:
Room security: The room wasn’t as secure as we’d hoped. The balcony door had on one side no locks, and the entrance door had noticeable cracks, allowing for a view inside if someone wanted to peek. This made us feel a bit uneasy. Noise: At night, the noise from traffic, honking, and loudspeakers was very disruptive. There was also a construction site next door, which added to the overall noise level. Room temperature: The air conditioning didn’t seem to work well. I found myself sweating constantly, though that might just have been my personal experience. Lift inconvenience: The lift only goes up to the 6th floor, and after that, you have to walk the last flight of stairs to reach the penthouse. Ants in the bathroom: Every day, we found a few ants in the right corner of the sink. Not ideal for hygiene. Unwanted morning wake up: Every other day, the phone rang between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m., asking if the staff could water the plants on the balcony (while we were still sleeping). Room safety: The cleaning staff left the room key on the outside of the door after cleaning, which felt unsafe. My wife was not thrilled about this, especially since we had valuables as rings and cash in the room. Fortunately, nothing happened, but it could have been a serious security risk. Breakfast issues: On one morning, breakfast was forgotten, after half hour and a phonecall again, they brought the breakfast to us. Plus not everything on the menu was available.
Overall, it’s a bit difficult to give a clearcut recommendation. There were definitely aspects of the hotel that we enjoyed, but there were also issues that affected our experience. Depending on what type of traveler you are, you might find certain aspects more or less important. So, we suggest you form your own opinion based on what matters...
Read moreWe searched for over 20 hotels in Da Nang to find a place as wonderful as this to stay long term and to come and go while we’re traveling Vietnam and Asia. This hotel is so modern, clean, stylish, and rightly priced. I’m so glad I wasn’t bothered by the negative reviews, which now makes me believe it’s fake perhaps competitors’ trick, and came to check it out ourselves in person first. My husband and I work from home so it’s important that we have a living space separate from the bedroom and they have a couple rooms like this here. I love that we have the option to cook and that’s also why we chose this place, however we’ve only used their microwave and heating services since we kept eating out as it’s so economic to do so here! After staying for 2 weeks in one room, we switched to another room, because they didn’t have availability the entire time we wanted to stay. Hotel staffs were nice, helpful, and very accommodating. They helped us get our luggage from our hotel at My An beachfront over. Two staffs in particular, Phuong and Trung, helped up booked train tickets back from Hue as our cousin drove us out for Moon Festival holiday last Friday. Unlike planned, we ended up staying in Hue two extra days and the hotel adjusted the hotel costs toward our next stay in November. That’s right we’re coming back! So if you come and stay around then, you will be seeing my husband and I, newly weds, traveling Asia and mostly Vietnam for a year and Bonny Boutique makes us feel like home! We like this place so much I recommended to our friends who is visiting with her parents and is planning to come back to stay for their family trip in February...
Read moreThis hotel I would have rated perfect during my 9 day stay, but on the second last day we had a bad experience that changed my mind.
We wiped our room table with a small towel and the hotel charged us $6.30 for it. When we questioned it, they said that it was their policy that we are not allowed to eat in the room.
First of all, no one told us this policy. Secondly there is a kitchenette, with stove, pots, pans, utensils in the room and we're not allowed to eat? I believe they just made an excuse on the spot. They also said the towel required special cleaning. It's food stains for goodness sake. It's not like industrial paint. And also at $6.30 we could have bought multiple new towels.
I would have rated this hotel much higher but this experience showed us the true colors of the hotel owner/staff. That they would lie and make things up just to get you.
IN RESPONSE TO OWNER REPLY:
Please do not lie. We left our room for less than 30 minutes and came back to a bill for "towel cleaning". You are telling me you tried to clean the towel TWICE within 20 minutes? I loved the hotel, but I will never support lying and greedy owners. The same stains were also on my shirt, and it came out after washing just fine. You should be ashamed of yourself. Had you just apologized and left it alone I...
