Kicochi House Đồng Hới — Restaurant in Đồng Hới

We saw this was a Korean bbq restaurant and thought we’d come for our fix. However, while it tastes good, it’s not very authentic. We had one of the combo sets, which came with two types of pork, beef and salmon fins (which were a nice addition). There was no gochujang or namul (beansprouts) and the kimchi was a little sweet. It came with lettuce and some kind of cabbage side as well as sliced mango as a side which, for me, didn’t work at all. It also had sweet chilli sauce as a dipping sauce which, again, is not authentic. Staff were fine and the restaurant was clean with Korean style BBQing tables.

It tasted fine, the meat was of decent quality, price was ok (338,000 VND with two beers) but you might be disappointed if you expect this to be like...

I was really looking forward to some Korean food but I was pretty disappointed with this restaurant. We ordered beef brisket and pork belly BBQ and cheesy corn with rice.

The BBQ comes with complimentary sides such as kimchi which is pretty normal. Inusualky eat so much kimchi, I really love it. This I did not love, it had a strange taste so I only had a little bit.

Once cooked, the beef and pork had okay flavor but were pretty tough. Also, I don’t really understand why the corn was brought out last and the rice came after the pork was cooked. Can’t it all come at once seeing as we’re cooking it at the table.

This place provides a cozy and comfortable atmosphere with nice food if you are craving for a hotpot or Bbq, especially in the chilly month of December. They have other side dishes too. The staff are polite and helpful. The price is reasonable and the food tastes good. If you run out of ideas of what to eat in Dong Hoi, this is a good dining...
