Bánh Khọt Vũng Tàu Khanh — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

Until yesterday, I was unfamiliar with Bahn Khot - which can be described as "Vietnamese Savory Mini Pancakes". But now they might be my favorite dish in this glorious cuisine! You should not trust my judgment on this, but my wife was born in Vietnam, and you SHOULD trust her judgment. ; - ) She was thrilled with the Banh Khot which we enjoyed at this restaurant. I saw this place on IG. It’s not quite as traditional as the batter from the traditional ones are partially fried with a soft centre with coconut milk and sometimes mung beans but this one is thinner and fully submerged when deep fried, but the batter is light. It works well with the seafood and lightly sprinkled seasoning. I think the flavors work really well.

That said, I’m also craving the more traditional one too..

The banh khot here are deep fried which is a little unusual but they aren’t oily at all. No menu but they have two toppings: shrimp and squid. You can get green onions if you want and they come dusted with powdered shrimp. The veggies were fresh but we had to ask for more leaves for wrapping.
