this place, hands down, is one of the best spots we’ve been to in hcmc! the service was top-tier — attentive, accommodating, and friendly. the atmosphere was great as well. cozy and especially very comfortable with those blasting ACs as we tend to get hot easily. the real deal was the food. we got the jalapeño poppers and loaded nachos with brisket for appetizers, and UGH i’d do ANYTHING to experience that first bite of the poppers again. it was so flavorful. the breading was crispy and well-seasoned; the cheesiness and mild heat from the jalapeño were just a perfect combination. i know they look funny, but please give it a try, you won’t regret it! the loaded nachos was also a hit, though you may want to go for the larger portion if you’re a strong eater like me and my partner. again, it’s everything you’d want from nachos - cheesy, salty, spicy, and fatty (brisket). we got a grilled cheese w/ brisket with tomato soup and a reuben sandwich for mains (ate so fast we forgot to snap pics), and they did not disappoint. my partner loved the grilled cheese - the bread was the star here, and i think that was the BEST reuben i had here in hcmc. the pastrami was delectable, but i’d prefer more of the island sauce on the bread (if you’re a saucy eater, you’ll know what i mean). instead of fries, we opted for 2 jalapeño poppers for a small up-charge. this was a really pleasant experience! we will...
Read moreIt definitely reminds me of SD, I feel like we are downtown here. They have specials each day, and Wednesdays are wings days.
We came because my husband has been missing chicken wings, and this spot has the best ones. He gets it without sauce, but we did try the Buffalo sauce. And it's not the same as the states. If you are unsure, just ask for it on the side. I also tried their quesadilla. If it comes in small or large. Protein options include chicken, pork, cheese, and vegetarian. Served with guacamole, sour cream, and Pico de Gallo. That's my go-to dish. I love it with chicken. Next dish I highly recommend are the muscles in the wine cream sauce served with sliced baguettes. Chefs kiss, I loved the muscles! I also tried the fries with pulled pork. I liked the pull pork but wanted more of it. It was more French fry heavy and protein light. But other than that, it was delicious!
We don't drink, but if we did, this would be a great spot for drinks. Great place to chill. Highly recommended if you are in D7. Also! If you are allergic to mosquitos like me, don't sit in the back by the restrooms. I always get...
Read moreI don't often leave 1 star reviews but given how excited I was to come and try here, I am very disappointed. Recently we arrived (the 2 of us) and it was a fairly quiet evening, and first I noticed that the greeters weren't so happy, which is fine you can't always be happy. The girl asked us to choose a table, I chose a table, and then she said "that's for 5 or more people" - I asked her, "oh, did you have bookings for that this evening?" she rolled her eyes and walked away - so then a guy came up to us to help us choose our table. We sat down, and the lighting was quite bad, I didn't expect it to be so dark and unwelcoming but it's fine, we sat down going through the menu, but even my girlfriend said "they don't seem to be very polite here and that girl was rude" - so, we just looked at the menu for a few more minutes, got up then left, took a grab car to another restaurant. I was actually quite excited to come to Malt South I have heard very good reviews, but after our 10 minute experience and spending over 100,000 VND on grab car to get here, I...
