I've been a loyal customer of this snack shop since my student days. Famous for its "Bánh ép" with various toppings, the shop offers a unique experience where you can mix your own dipping sauce and pick fresh herbs to complement the dish. The thinly pressed tapioca pancake, grilled to perfection, is irresistibly chewy and flavorful.
One of my all-time favorite dishes here is "Bánh tráng trứng nướng" – crispy grilled rice paper with egg, pâté, mayonnaise, and chili sauce, creating a delightful balance of savory, creamy, and spicy flavors. Another must-try is "Trứng cút nướng phô mai" – grilled quail eggs with melted cheese, rich and indulgent.
The shop's atmosphere is spacious and airy, with an open kitchen where you can watch the entire cooking process, adding to the charm. The service is quick, and the staff is friendly, making the dining experience even better. Prices are reasonable, and the variety of dishes ensures there’s something for everyone.
Due to my busy schedule (and the fear of gaining weight!), I can only visit every few months, but every time I do, it’s worth it. If you ever travel to Huế, don't miss out on this place. Definitely take home some crispy dried "Bánh ép" as a souvenir—especially the beef and...
Read moreFood was good, but service could have been better. Came here on a Friday night and it was super busy. There were a line but no check-in list so I was not sure how they seat people in orders but the host said he remembered. We got our seat quickly in the corner.
Food came out quick for us but they missed an order. Waited for around 20 mins so I decided to ask. Since we were in the corner it was difficult to get their attention or flag them down. Got the order, then added something and waiting for another 25 mins, they missed the order again. I guess there is something wrong with the ordering app. But at this point I just didn’t want to add anything else. Service was friendly and they tried to accommodate but they were too busy and seemed to be short of staff.
My personal favorite dishes: -The original egg and meat ( trung thit- comes with 4) -Rice cracker ( Vietnamese pizza)- my husband who was not impressed by Banh Ep like this one the most and it’s not even banh ep. -Pate egg or pork and egg were pretty good too.
The veggie and sauce area was chaotic, and veggie ran out way too quickly. Otherwise it was...
Read moreBánh Ép Gia Di was such a fun and tasty first-time experience! I tried a few different types of bánh ép, and personally, I found the ones with pâté to be more flavorful than the egg version — though the grilled egg itself was also very tasty. The textures and flavors were great overall, especially if you enjoy street-style snacks.
I also ordered a glass of sấu (dracontomelon) juice, but it wasn’t really to my taste — maybe a bit too strong or sour for my preference. That said, there are plenty of other drinks on the menu you could try instead. I also had the flan, which was decent, though not particularly standout.
One tip: try to book a table early if you want to sit outside. The indoor space can feel a little cramped or stuffy, while the outdoor seating is much more open and comfortable.
If you’re curious to try some local flavors in a lively setting, Gia Di is a great...
