The second best banh mi I’ve ever had in Vietnam (and, bear in mind, I’ve eaten hundreds) was the one I had at Banh Mi Hanoi yesterday.
The best I’ve ever had was the one I ordered here just now, after coming back for a second day on the bounce!
My only regret is that I’ve not booked an extra night in Tam Coc to complete my three-lunch streak.
Most banh mi’s I’ve tried here on my multiple visits to Vietnam have been good… but always lacking something, whether that’s not enough pickled carrot, no coriander, no option to add extra sauce, bread too soft or too hard, etc.
The banh mi at Banh Mi Hanoi is perfect.
Not to mention, the servers are sweet and attentive, the kitchen staff charming and talented, and even the location is somehow super central but also tucked away down a peaceful side-track. And, side note, even the smoothies here are a work of art, and much to my delight, they don’t hold back on the condensed milk in their coffee either.
Only add this place to your food itinerary if you want every other subsequent sandwich experience to fall just short of the mark.
PS. for those who don’t like coriander, don’t worry! They give it to you separately in a cute little basket so you can add as much or as little as you want to your sandwich. But...
Read moreWe had an incredible dining experience at Banh Mi Hanoi in Tam Coc—this place truly deserves 5 stars! We enjoyed a lime and passionfruit juice, a vegan pho, and two delicious banh mi (one with tofu and peanut butter, and another with egg and mushroom). Every single dish and drink was absolutely perfect—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care and high-quality ingredients.
The location adds to the charm, as it’s tucked away in a quiet and cozy side alley, offering a peaceful escape from the busier parts of Tam Coc.
The combination of excellent food, refreshing drinks, and the tranquil setting makes this spot a must-visit. If you’re in Tam Coc, don’t miss the chance to stop by Banh Mi Hanoi!
This highlights both the food and the ambiance, creating a compelling recommendation for future...
Read moreFirst meal in Tam Coc and it did NOT disappoint! We’ve generally had really good experiences dining in all of Vietnam, but this was among the best meals we’ve had yet!
We ordered the spring rolls (which you roll yourself) with peanut sauce (!!! I’ve been on the hunt for this since we got here and this was the first time we found it!), a peanut butter tofu banh mi to split, and a vegan pho and pineapple fried rice. All of the dishes were so flavorful, fresh, and generous in portion size (we ordered way too much food — oops). The banh mi was crispy, the pho far from bland, and the atmosphere was cute and inviting. Servers were super sweet and credit cards are accepted! Prices are good and I would...
