Cantina came recommended by a friend so we decided to try it out. After getting our seat, we ordered our food and drinks. We mentioned that we would like to get homemade lemonade and the waiter recommended us to get a jug of freshly made lemonade. I asked him how big the jug is, he went to the bar, came back to us and mentioned that the jug is 1.5L. it was only me and my child, so I mentioned that it would be too much for us and he told us we could get half a jug. We agreed thinking he knew what he could recommend his customers best. Food was alright, meatballs quite salty but the tacos we had were great. Guacamole not edible because it was very bitter, when I mentioned the waiter said that it was the season (?!?!). We have avocados every single day and had not had a single bitter one so I could not really understand it. The shock was when the bill came, the homemade lemonade cost 640 Kwacha, much more than what we paid for the food 😅 and it stated 8x80 kwacha which if I understand it correctly we ordered 8 glasses of lemonade. I find it such a shame that we were recommended to order a jug, then half a jug when the waiter could have just recommended us to order by glass. It was just the two of us anyways.... So...
Read moreJust finished eating at Cantina as I write this review. Nice looking place and very clean. It’s fairly packed for a Tuesday, upon arrival at 5:45 I found the outside seating fully booked under reservations which was fine with me because I’ve noticed in Zambia you get the best service if you sit indoors. I decided to splurge and ordered the most expensive dish on the “Tacos” side of the menu, the Brisket Quesabirra and the Korean shortribs from the “Plates to Share”. Unfortunately the ribs were very hard and a struggle to eat(the flavour was okay, sweet, nothing special🤷♀️), the Brisket tacos were just terrible, tasted like boiled meat wrapped in chapati and topped with raw onions for deco. Awful. Zero flavour. Zero seasoning. I had to ask for the tacos to be taken away after eating one and ordered the Jalapeño Crayfish Tacos instead(still got charged for the brisket ones though). The crayfish tacos were definitely an improvement flavour wise. These paired with the Spicy Margarita saved the whole experience for me. The service was good despite all the people so props to...
Read moreI recently had a disappointing experience at cantina . After calling ahead to reserve seats,we arrived to find that they had given outdoor seating to white patrons while placing us inside a hot 🔥 place with no proper air vets. This blatant discrimination left a sour taste in our mouths.
When we questioned the hostess about the issue, she claimed that they reserve tables a day in advance this excuse felt like a blatant lie, as we had called ahead and were given assurance that we would have a table upon arrival of which we did not to our preference. And later asked if we could speak to the manager she claimed the manager wasn't around , but later the manager came through Overall, the food and service at cantina were decent, but the discriminatory seating practices and lack of accountability leave a lot to be desired. I hope they take our feedback to heart and make improvements to ensure that all patrons are treated fairly...
