Baines Restaurant — Restaurant in Matabeleland North Province

We actually walked to Baines from the Falls but I wouldn’t recommend it, very hot and open country on one side and a high fence around the Falls park on the other. However, it was worth it. There is a car park out front and an entrance housing an art shop and a waiting area with seats etc under cover. Once through this building follow signs to the right and the restaurant and the outdoor seating can be seen. We picked a table beside the Zambezi under an umbrella. We were quickly approached by a waitress who served us with drinks and then took our order for food. This was lunch time and it wasn’t too busy. The food was local and well prepared and presented and we enjoyed it. We had a good view over the river and its cooling effect made it comfortable. It certainly has a large capacity outside. The open air terrace offers uninterrupted views of the Zambezis swirling currents & in the distance mist from the near by falls rising like a veil. The menu is a celebration of local and international flavors with a refined twist. We had the freshly caught grilled bread with garlic roasted sweet potato fries. Service was warm &attentive. Staff were eager to share stories about the river and region. It felt less than a transaction and more like being welcomed into someone's home. This place is UNREAL!

First of all, the atmosphere is sublime! Nestled along the river, the pathway leading to the restaurant is something out of an old Hollywood movie. The tables along the embankment offer stunning river views and the sound of the falls nearby are the cherry on top!

The service was IMPECCABLE. Thabiso was our server and his attention to detail, quiet demeanor, and standard of excellence is unmatched! He was A M A Z I N G! Seriously, give this man a raise because he absolutely knows how to take care of his guests!

Definitely make Baines a stop if you're in Victoria Falls!
