Great place! I stayed here four days and chose the super cheap tent option for 49R per night. Otherwise the cottages are really nice too. They have A/C and safes for valuables and fancy stuff like that. Apparently that's a gamble with the tents though because the mosquitoes devoured some of the other campers at night. I never had a problem with the mosquitoes but they are definitely around. The tents are really nice though. They each have two cots with nicely clean white sheets and a thin mattress. There is a night stand and there is WiFi in the tents. You also have a public restroom and shower stalls very close by as well as a community kitchen arrangement and power/charging station. It is well set up. Then there is the main reception area which is super cool. There are plenty of wicker chairs and couches and beans bags to plop down in to relax and just enjoy the fact that you are finally chillin in Africa. There is a complimentary cold juice dispenser by the reception counter that shows up around ten thirty and it's so refreshing especially on the really hot days. It got up to 101F in the day and 90F at night so be prepared for that I guess. The water is potable here. There is a restaurant and bar with great food, I had a crocodile kabab and burger for 12usd. There is a nice swimming pool just below the main veranda and a great performance is put on around 8:00pm here by some amazing traditional singers and dancers. Don't miss out on that, they are an amazing group of guys. And their leader Vitalis is awesome. Anyways, yes Shearwater Explorers village is a great place. Just outside the entrance is an artists market where you can buy lots of traditional carved animals and souvenirs. Make sure you haggle the prices though. They accept Rands and US dollars and Zimbabwe dollars too. They will also barter with you whatever you have....extra shirts, shoes absolutely anything. I hope you enjoy your stay here like I did mine:)...

I would not stay here again. Several reasons:

I booked directly with them and they required a wire transfer as payment in advance. I had it sent from my bank, then they claimed they never received it. After a month of back-and-forth between them and my bank (which clearly sent the funds and had all records), they acknowledge receipt. I should not have had to hound them to get this resolved. Very poor service.

We made only one special request: that we have a boxed breakfast to go on Sunday morning for our Chobe safari, leaving early (before breakfast opened). I asked on three different occasions and even reconfirmed it the night before. The morning we needed our breakfast, it was not available and the kitchen was not yet open.

I booked this hotel because I thought it was the closest to Victoria Falls. That's not correct. You must first walk out to the main road, past several other (less expensive) hotels to get to the fall entrance. And you are hawked all the way along the walk.

Very poor service. I asked for a response from the General Manager and did not receive one. Clearly the level of service starts there and if the GM is not interested in responding, that is reflected by the other employees as well.

Poor overall value for the money.

Not recommended. Stay...

Super nice resort in a very beautiful and well maintained big garden area. The little lodges/houses you stay in are nicely decorated, very clean, modern and quite spacious. They have got air con and mosquito nets which are prepared for you by a member of staff every evening. The bathrooms have nice showers. The pool area is great, the pool gets cleaned daily. Tä The food is nice - don't expect traditional african dishes, though, it's all international/American. It is not possible to put bills on the room so you need to have cash or card with you at all times. The location is great as it is in walking distance to the Vic Falls. There are lots of markets and shops selling beautiful traditional arts and crafts nearby. Above all, what I liked most about the Shearwater is the extraordinary friendly staff. They went above and beyond to make sure you were feeling comfortable. They checked on my well-being every morning and found a solution to every problem, like e.g. a spider in my room in the middle of the night. Someone came immediately and helped me. Another cool thing: If you order a Cappuccino, it will come with a shot of Amarula and a glass of iced water. Yummy! Great service, thank...

We spent three nights at Shearwater Explorers Village and it was the perfect place for us. We stayed in one of their deluxe rooms, which was perfect for the area. The service throughout the complex was excellent. Their prices were reasonable, the food is great, and the bartenders have excellent skills. We will return to Shearwater the next time we visit Victoria Falls. Our first room was very musty so we simply asked for another one. They switched our room immediately. They spray the rooms each night with an intense mosquito repellent. It was a bit strong so we asked them to skip spraying our remaining nights (we fortunately had zero problems with mosquitos in the room). If you have any problems, they will go out of their way to correct them for you. If you choose to walk to Victoria Falls National Park, it's approximately 15 minutes. If you do not like being followed by the local small business owners, who are a bit aggressive with their selling techniques, there are always cabs out front. During our stay, the honest taxis were $5 to the falls. Several will try to charge $10 if you look like a tourist (like we did). They also do a nice job of arranging tours.
