I had an extremely disappointing experience at Dusty Roads Vic Falls. Our group had made a reservation and pre-paid for dinner here but our evening turned sour due to the unprofessional and disrespectful behavior of the owner, Sarah.
I and another member of of our group of 15 had requested a takeaway option since we had a late lunch and we were still full at the time of dinner. The waitstaff initially accommodated our request by providing a takeaway bowl, but things took a turn for the worse when Sarah, the owner, rudely informed us that there was no more food available. This was not only a breach of agreement as this dinner was prepaid for all 15 of us and we had not eaten a thing at the restaurant that day, but also a display of extreme discourtesy.
We attempted to address the issue with Sarah, hoping for an explanation or some form of resolution, but our concerns were met with indifference. This experience left us feeling disrespected and undervalued as customers.
I cannot recommend this restaurant due to the unprofessional behavior we encountered. It is important that all customers are treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their background. Our group left feeling disappointed and disheartened by the...
Read moreDusty Road is truly a one-of-a-kind experience—an oasis tucked away in the heart of the Victoria Falls township. From the moment we walked in, we were transported into a peaceful and beautifully curated space. The garden is lush and inviting, and the thoughtful décor, paired with gentle local music, creates a calming and welcoming ambiance.
We were given a private table and a lovely tour of the property, where we learned about the preparation of traditional Zimbabwean dishes. Meeting our chef and hearing about the care and passion that goes into each meal made the experience even more meaningful. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and made with local ingredients that highlighted the richness of the region’s cuisine.
What makes Dusty Road even more special is their mission: proceeds from the restaurant support local families and the surrounding community. Dining here felt like so much more than a meal—it was a beautiful cultural experience filled with warmth, generosity, and purpose.

$40usd per person, not including drinks for really poor food?
My partner said the fish was ok, but the beef was tough as old boots and the chicken was dry as the Sahara.
I assumed that for this sort of money and the 'social enterprise' feel of the place that there would be some sort of commitment that a % of takings/profits would go back to the community but I couldn't find anything that suggested that on the website (only an undisclosed % of proceeds from the cookbook sales). Maybe I missed it.
The staff seem happy enough but I wasn't particularly comfortable with the school children being trotted out to sing at night. According to their website, "In return for their singing, guests can donate money towards the children’s school fees and other projects". So they sing for the privilege of maybe getting some donations from guests? Maybe I'm missing...
